Anyone can nominate as many books as you'd like and look for a buddy! Any book that gets two nominations or more will have a buddy thread created for discussion during January. Please decide your start date and reading pace/reading goals in this thread. Once that has been decided, the mods will create a Buddy Read Discussion thread for that title. Reading the Buddy Read Guidelines is strongly recommended. There is no promise that you will have a buddy read for your nomination(s).

Katie (love---katie) | 576 comments I want to reread the Legendborn books in preparation for the third book coming out in March! Anyone interested in doing Legendborn in January and Bloodmarked in February?

@Brianna
I read your suggestion for the group reads, although after I made the thread (that's why it's locked)😅 And I want to try it, so in a bit there'll be a few polls set up.

I just read Legendborn and Bloodmarked but regardless if it wins for the Series challenge or not - I will hop in on the 3rd one! (once it's released)

@Katie

I’ve had Legendborn on my tbr for ages so I’d be happy to read this with you. When would you want to start?

message 9: by Sarah-Vanessa (new)

Sarah-Vanessa | 517 comments @Katie I recently read Legendborn and Bloodmarked but will happily join for the third one as well, as soon as it gets published.

I am open for whenever! Probably would be best for start of month through mid month but could still do late month if that is best for you!

message 11: by Priya (last edited Dec 28, 2024 05:52PM) (new)

Priya | 65 comments I’d like to read one or two of the following for January:

A Court of Thorns and Roses
Six of Crows
Pride and Prejudice
One Dark Window
Fable
Belladonna

I’d love to have someone to reach any of these with :)

@Priya - I would read Fable with you! I have read it a few times and never picked up the sequel which is one of my priority reads for 2025 so re-reading would definitely help!

I honestly thought it was a duology at first! didn’t realize there more books until I was writing my 2025 goals! How do you want to go about reading it? Weekly number of pages/chapters?

From what I remember it's a pretty quick read so how long would you like to spread it across? The main Goodreads version is about 350 pages. I find it easier to split by chapters than pages.

how’s this breakdown?

Chapters 1-9
Chapters 10-18
Chapters 19-27
Chapters 28-34
Chapters 35-43

depending on when you’s like to start or how short/long the chapters are

5 days works for me! When would you like to start?

message 18: by Priya (new)

Priya | 65 comments Sarah-Vanessa wrote: "@Priya I would be in for Six of Crows, Fable and Belladonna."

@Briana for Fable

Do you guys want to do one set per week? So we’d start first week of Jan. Or do you want to finish it within two weeks etc.

message 19: by Sarah-Vanessa (last edited Dec 25, 2024 07:02AM) (new)

Sarah-Vanessa | 517 comments @Briana @Priya I would say 7 days, but I‘ll go with what works for you. I most of the time fall behind anyways *lol*

@mina are we allowed to nominate same books we already did? Didn’t manage to even start them…

message 20: by Brianna (new)

Brianna C | 1265 comments @Sarah-Vanessa & Priya re: Fable

My copy of Fable has about 350 pages so with the chapter breakdown as listed it's around the following number of pages:

set 1: 78
set 2: 80
set 3: 78
set 4: 55
set 5: 62

Maybe we can split it across the following:
Day 1 & 2: set 1 (Chapters 1-9)
Day 3 & 4: set 2 (Chapters 10-18)
Day 5 & 6: set 3 (Chapters 19-27)
Day 7: set 4 (Chapters 28-34)
Day 8: set 5 (Chapters 35-43)

@Sarah-Vanessa - I also frequently fall behind. lol

message 21: by Priya (new)

Priya | 65 comments @Briana @Sarah-Vanessa

I’m also bad with due dates. Are we thinking of finishing everything in a little more than a week? I think I can do that if you don’t want to spread it across multiple weeks.

How’s starting it on Jan 8?

message 22: by Priya (new)

Priya | 65 comments Sarah-Vanessa wrote: "@Priya I would be in for Six of Crows, Fable and Belladonna."

when would you want to read six of crows/belladonna?

message 23: by Sarah-Vanessa (new)

Sarah-Vanessa | 517 comments @Priya sets of one week work for me. Let’s start in the week of 6th January.

And then let’s do Belladonna for 1 week and afterwards Six of crows for 1week.

are you planning on reading all four books in the series or just fable and namesake? I’m iffy on the prequal and last book.

Brianna C | 1265 comments Priya wrote: "are you planning on reading all four books in the series or just fable and namesake? I’m iffy on the prequal and last book."

@Priya - I do own all four so ideally would probably get through the entire series at some point in the year. I'm mostly iffy about the last book but am intrigued by the prequel.

ono I’m almost halfway through ACOTAR because I didn’t think anyone would buddy-read it. I’ll edit it out. The second book could be a buddy read though if you have it and can catch up?

I got the pride and prejudice with the illustrations because it seemed prettier btw

I think six of crows is going to be the last week of January

Sophie re: Queen of Shadows

It looks like it is 89 chapters and my paperback edition has 645 pages. The prior ones were decently quick reads but it is the tail end of busy season for my work so if we split it across 14 days its approximately 47 pages a day? Would that work?

@Brianna
Do you know how many chapters are there in First lie wins?

Also, does someone know how many chapters does Witchcraft for wayward girls have?

message 40: by Sarah-Vanessa (new)

Sarah-Vanessa | 517 comments so sorry I absolutely lost track as I wasn’t able to check in due to work.

@Brianna & @Priya ok, so Fable is on the 8th works for me as well as the schedule. I would also like to finish the series and would be in for continuing over the next months.

@Priya & @Allyson Maybe Belladonna 1th up to 7th? or rather 18th up 24th?
Schedule:
Day 1: Prologue - 7
Day 2: 8 - 14
Day 3: 15 - 21
Day 4: 22 - 28
Day 5: 29 - 35
Day 6: 36 - 42
Day 7: 43 - Epilogue

equals 60-70 pages per day

@Priya @Kara for Six of Crows propably 25th up to 31th of January?
Schedule:
25th: 1-7
26th: 8-14
27th: 15-21
28th: 22-28
29th: 29-35
30th: 36-42
31th: 43-46

Does that work? The lenght varies, sometimes it’s 100 pages, then only 50 a day.

@Priya @ Brianna reading a Court of Mist and Fury works for me as well. When would you like to read that one? I hope I‘ll manage reading all these books *lol*

I’m actually reading A Court of Mist and Fury right now, if you guys wants me to wait for January to start and we can read it on the first week.

Otherwise, I prefer 18-24th for Belladonna and 25-31st for Six of Crows. I’m fine with the breakdown you gave! :)

Sarah-Vanessa RE: Court of Mist and Fury

I would only be able to read this in the second half of the month as I want to read Queen of Shadows first (I am reading Sarah J. Maas in publication order so intermixing the series). I could start on the 16th?

18th: prologue - chapter 4
19th: chapter 5 - 7
20th: chapter 8 - 13
21st: chapter 14 - 16
22nd: chapter 17 - 20
23rd: chapter 21 - 25
24th: chapter 26 - 31
25th: chapter 32 - 36
26th: chapter 37 - 41
27th: chapter 42 - 44
28th: chapter 45 - 49
29th: chapter 50 - 54
