“Why do people still prosper after they do others wrong?”
“ After all that happened, why does he still get what he wants and I am left with nothing?” I was furious.
“Dem thing here always mek me agnostic and think karma is just some concept we embrace as a coping mechanism!”
Shane frowned. “The laws of man and the laws of the universe are different hun!”
“In the universe when the lion devours a gazelle, there is no karma for the lion, it’s just the natural order of things!”
“The lion feels no remorse as no life is considered greater than any!”
“In the old days, when we walked continents on foot, the young, sick and elderly would not survive if the group decided to escape bad weather conditions and predators!”
“Humans thought nothing of it, it’s just natural selection!”
I smiled. “You just seh that so coldly?”
“You feel too much Saf?”
“Those feelings are not good for your ambitions!”
“Stop feeling and worrying about what you have no control over!”
“I always call people like him a lion”
“I will say that even the strongest lions grow old and feeble and is eaten by the Hyenas!”
“That notion doesn’t even bring me comfort!”
“For how much damage the lion does to the ecosystem before it ages!”
Shane chuckled. “Lion growing old and feeble is the natural order of things!”
“It’s not Karma!”
“Have you ever considered that some of us are predators and some are preys!”
“You are a prey to some and predator to others!”
“He is just higher on the food chain than you are!”
“That’s all there is to it!”
I blinked. “Spoken like a true science student!”
Shane opened his car door so that I could sit inside the passenger seat.
The night was warm.
I thought we would have had a cold Christmas Eve.
Place was hot and miserable and children didn’t enjoy grand market night.
Shane slipped into his driver’s seat.
“With your current situation, you are deemed not valuable to a lot of people, not high on their hierarchy of benefits”
“I who has inside knowledge know they are wrong!”
“This is the time to assess your tribe and pack!”
“Leave people like him, hating family members, fake friends , unworthy business partners behind, abusive clients and even me”
“Sometimes I sense you holding back as if I don’t fall into your plans!”
Shane sent me a file on WhatsApp.
I opened it.
“What’s this?”
He grinned at me and put the car in reverse.
“Our holiday to weekend itinerary!”
I chuckled.
“You don’t easy at all!”
“Why you doing this?” I asked him.
“Me buy one a dem projector things you told me about online!”
“It bad!” Shane ignored my question!.
“Mek me feel like me have a hundred inch television inna me room “
“Thank you for that!” Shane said.
I smiled at him.
I liked Shane.
I like that he is a doctor and smart, emotionally intelligent and available.
It’s just that the fire I had inside of me, has burnt out.
“Sometimes me feel like me fire burnt out!” I said without thinking.
Shane grinned. “Nah it just needs some wood!”
“Life is simple, when you eat pork, do you think about the Pig?” Shane said after a while.
He seemed to be thinking about our earlier conversation.
“Some people being a predator or k!ller is their natural state!” I replied.
“Is like if you go into Shark infested waters or into a Savanna of Lions or into a crocodile swamp!”
“Just like Bees, Wasp and Snake carry venom!”
“Like scorpion on the crocodile back, he stings him as he reaches across the river!”
“Some people don’t get any form of Karma because they are operating within their natural predatory construct!”
“When they die, it’s just the end of their cycle!”
Shane smiled. “Like how world boss get richer inna prison and come out happy and wealthy!”
I chuckled. “You seet!”
“Natural selection, thats even things set against you become your power base or launch pad!”
