We talked about it so much, I HAD to do it...

Today was just a great day... the timing of it all...

I was at work, and just HAPPENED to take my last break 5-10 minutes after the teams were announced, and skimming my notifications, which set of the fast paced chain of events... if I'd been away for hours, it just wouldn't have hit the same :D

Timing is everything. I was about to post something, swept my floors and once I came back it was all gone.

Anyway, Go Team! I am looking forward to 2025!

Back in my rambunctious youth... I actually got reprimanded for the havoc that whole shenanigan caused the group for a few days :D

I don't think the group has ever been as ridiculously active as it was that day...

My most active day in this group is that one time in 2019 (I think) Anni, Iain, Petrik (+ some other people... I don't remember) and I were writing the most ridiculous innuendos in bold and leaving comments everywhere.

I'm sure I've had multiple super-active days of varying types, given the 30k comments I've collected in 7 years... but nothing quite matches the manic nature of those 2017 comments... I forget this 2019 day you mention, but I might vaguely remember it hazily...

I thought this team seemed to be missing the one crazy person that would give us a fighting chance but then I saw how many books Rachel reads...

Fingers crossed we have a fighting chance but this is my first year doing this competition. I feel like my life is finally stable enough that I could make the commitment. About 6 months ago I went from having 2 jobs to having 1 which gives me more time to read. I also signed up for a bunch of team challenges last year which pushed up my normal reading stats. I am hoping to join in more buddy reads this year.

Hahaha sorry for not putting you on the Lawless Rogues, Soo. You were originally going to be here, but having both you and Rachel on the same team was a bit problematic for points. xD Maybe next year!

I have just spent ages updating the 38 books I was behind on tracking. Got to be better about keeping up with updating the spreadsheet so I don't have to do that again hahaha.

It's hard once you fall behind to catch up!

I could never, I am too addicted to updating my reading stats that I add it the next day at the latest. Also, I update it on Goodreads, Storygraph, one ARC website, Czech version of Goodreads (if it has been translated), one mobile app, Calibre, and on multiple tabs on my personal Excel sheets 😅

That is impressive! I only have goodreads and storygraph.

I'm also addicted to updating my reading stats and my spreadsheet. I usually end up updating my spreadsheet before I'm even finished with the book I'm reading. I like to try and predict when I'll finish the book and see if I'm right.

I just don't want to fall behind, so I try to update mine as soon as I start reading a book leaving the completed date blank until I finish.

It's much easier to maintain and give the correct ratings quickly... the spreadsheet is a crutch for me to catch up on the rest later... if I stop maintaining the spreadsheet as well (happened in 2020, I think), it's really bad/inaccurate...

The idea of maintaining as many things as Marie, tho, tires me out just reading it :D

As planned as I am, I pre-fill my sheet each month, and only have to input finish dates and unplanned reads the rest of the month...

There's no way I could maintain stats on more than one website. Goodreads is enough for me. I have a hard time being active in more than one group on Goodreads too, although there is one other group I'm in that I participate in a couple of challenges. What I have a real addiction to are reading challenges. I've got so many of those going it's crazy! I think I'm participating in 12 different ones.

I used to update a bunch of stuff. This year, I'm only updating FBR Tracker & Goodreads. I might download GR data and upload it to Storygraph later this year.

My engagement for doing stuff goes up and down depending on what's happening in my life. XD

So, I'm on the keep it lowkey and easy this year. Best way to keep on track for my own expectations.

I started doing like Iain does and adding the books I plan on reading for the month to the challenge sheet except for date finished and star rating but I also bought a monthly calendar that I track my books so I can try to plan when I am reading what for the month. I also highlight the book titles depending on where I will access the books so I am not scrambling. I also keep track of monthly challenge books, mystery books, IRL book club books, the book sale thread & also my monthly horror book.

I'm focusing on team challenges this year. Right now I'm doing 8 and that seems to be my limit.

I don't really do challenges... I don't leave enough time in my schedule for too many random reads, so if my current books don't fit criteria I suck at finishing...

I've started doing Blackout Bingo in GG&G again, the past year or so... it runs for 6 month increments, and I can generally find books in my BR plan that fit all 24 randomly chosen themes/criteria... mostly do it to see if I can make it work with no random reads, as a discussion topic, and maybe to give other participants some ideas for harder topics...

January to June 2025, the topic people have been having the most trouble with is underground plot, but I got lucky with Red Rising... Red Rising also worked for GR Award winner, since books 1-2 won the sci-fi category the years they released...

Speaking oi challenges I may try to complete r/fantasy BINGO, it just started April 1st and I forgot about it until this talk of challenges.

I finished the r/fantasy bingo last year so I am also planning on finishing it this year
