Sandra wrote: "Happy New Year, Everyone! How are you spending the first day of the brand new year??"I have a friend that has a party on New Year’s Day every year so I enjoyed talking with friends and watching college football.
FYI, looks like GR isn’t tracking notifications for group activity. We are back to checking into the group and looking for new activity. Hopefully they’re only doing this until all the new year traffic dies down.
What a mess.
What a mess.
It IS a mess!! For goodness sakes - why do they make it so difficult?!?! There wouldn't BE a site without us!!
Exactly! Why fix what isn't broken. Everytime they upgrade or whatever the term is, we land up having more problems. And the problems never gets fix nowadays it seems. I'm still unable to turn off the threads I don't want notifications of. That is if I get notified.
Many are already flocking to StoryGraph. Such a shame.
Hopefully everyone’s notifications are working properly now.

I think most of us are still here because of the groups and friends we've made. Goodreads sure has changed since I joined.
I agree. I looked at a few options, but I like the groups I'm in. I found so many excellent authors and friends on GR that I hate starting over.
I have gotten my reading life organized through Goodreads and I don't want to do that again somewhere else. Before Goodreads I would grab whatever looked good on the freebie racks in the library or at the used bookstore, now I read with purpose, and I love the discussions and book recommendations.
When I learned Otis was gone, it felt like the beginning of the end. All that institutional knowledge…disappeared.

While I have an account on Storygraph, I don't use it. There have also been some glitches and outages (perhaps because many are opening accounts there). I also find their use of AI for recommendations and book descriptions troubling. Not a fan of this at all!
Michelle wrote: "Or more like Amazon should never have bought Goodreads. For me that's when all the trouble started."Very true! Amazon ruined Shelfari before they shut it down and GR isn't the user friendly site it used to be.

While I have an account on Storygraph, I don't use it. There ..."
I use Storygraph as a record keeping of my books. I also like that I can add a book myself
I find that I've have joined so many sites that supposedly help keep track of my reading/series etc. but somehow there is always something that doesn't completely work for me. Goodreads is mostly about the discussions and the friends I have. The rest about record keeping.

Gonna need some Roarke money for the first produced models though, but a friend of mine equated it to High-End Kickstarter funding
