2) Malma station Malma station by Alex Schulman by Alex Schulman Alex Schulman to be published on the 7th of January 2025. Sweden. 248 pages.

A train races through a stark summer landscape. Everyone on board is traveling to Malma Station, and no one realizes how their fates are intertwined, in this riveting literary suspense.

On board the train to Malma Station are a married couple in crisis, a single dad and his young daughter, and a woman searching for the answer to a mystery her mother left behind. The enigmatic Harriet, the controlling Oskar, and the searching Yana—each of these characters carries within them the scars of what has come before.

From the acclaimed author of The Survivors, Alex Schulman’s Malma Station traces the crooked lines of family and history and shows how memories morph and take new shape. The novel makes the reader wonder if it the past we can change, rather than the future. With vivid prose, the narrative builds like a train hurtling through time, each chapter a separate car hooking into the next.

Malma Station is by turns an enchanting and gut-wrenching novel about family secrets and injustices passed on through generations and a suspenseful hunt for a truth with the power to change everything.

4) The Lost House The Lost House by Melissa Larsen by Melissa Larsen Melissa Larsen to be published on the 14th of January 2025. Iceland. 352pages.

In Melissa Larsen's The Lost House comes the mesmerizing story of a young woman with a haunting past who returns to her ancestral home in Iceland to investigate a gruesome murder in her family.

Forty years ago, a young woman and her infant daughter were found buried in the cold Icelandic snow, lying together as peacefully as though sleeping. Except the mother’s throat had been slashed and the infant drowned. The case was never solved. There were no arrests, no conviction. Just a suspicion turned into a the husband did it. When he took his son and fled halfway across the world to California, it was proof enough of his guilt.

Now, nearly half a century later and a year after his death, his granddaughter, Agnes, is ready to clear her grandfather’s name once and for all. Still recovering from his death and a devastating injury, Agnes wants nothing more than an excuse to escape the shambles of her once-stable life—which is why she so readily accepts true crime expert Nora Carver’s invitation to be interviewed for her popular podcast. Agnes packs a bag and hops on a last-minute flight to the remote town of Bifröst, Iceland, where Nora is staying, where Agnes’s father grew up, and where, supposedly, her grandfather slaughtered his wife and infant daughter.

Is it merely coincidence that a local girl goes missing the very same weekend Agnes arrives? Suddenly, Agnes and Nora’s investigation is turned upside down, and everyone in the small Icelandic town is once again a suspect. Seeking to unearth old and new truths alike, Agnes finds herself drawn into a web of secrets that threaten the redemption she is hell-bent on delivering, and even her life—discovering how far a person will go to protect their family, their safety, and their secrets.

Set against an unforgiving Icelandic winter landscape, The Lost House is a chilling and razor-sharp thriller packed with jaw-dropping twists that will leave you breathless.

8) Dino Dice: Volume 1 Dino Dice Volume 1 (Six-sided stories) by Christoffer Petersen by Christoffer Petersen Christoffer Petersen to be published on the 30th of January 2025. Scotland.

From a run through the primordial jungle, hunting Scottish mammoths, and contemporary run-ins with the law, Dino Dice has it all.

Dino Dice vol.1 is a collection of short stories inspired by the roll of prehistoric-themed dice.

The rules were simple – roll three dice and then, immediately after, write a short story, including whatever was on the dice. Some dice had Velociraptors, others a swamp, and then there was the oft rolled volcano. The dice were themed, but the stories prompted by each roll are all very different.

Writers are often asked where they get their ideas from. Ideas are never the problem, but in the case of this volume, the ideas came with a roll of the dino dice.
