Barnes and Noble had this book on sale for $50! Snagged a hardcover copy today for $11. Going to start it as soon as I finish my current read
I’ve been a bit busy lately so I haven’t had the chance to start this yet but I’m hoping by tomorrow

I extended the read to February to give us time to read it without pressure. Hope your loan comes in soon!

Yay, thank you!

I haven't started it yet. I just got out of a slump and there are some books I'm in the mood for so I'm reading those for now. Right after I finish one of them I'm starting Heir.

Oooh that's such a good bargain!

I heard Heir was a spin off duology of Ember in the Ashes! For anyone who has read that series, do you think reading that first makes Heir more enjoyable?

I haven't started Heir yet so I'm not sure how much they tell you. As far as I've seen and read online you can read this perfectly fine without having read Ember. Whether it's more enjoyable or not I'm not sure. I'll have to start it and see.

I’m on my Goodreads phone app and can’t reply to comments directly so this is in regards to whether or not reading Heir is more enjoyable if you’ve read Ember first…I haven’t read Ember but based off what I’ve read so far, it’s completely unnecessary to. The world is the same but all of the characters are new and it’s got a completely different storyline. Think of it in terms of Stephen King’s writing. His books all take place in the same universe and make subtle references to one another but can be read separately and enjoyed as standalones. Hope this made sense!

I haven't read Ember yet either and I was starting to worry that maybe I should first, but I'm glad to know I'm good :D
Okay I’ve finally finished part one. I’m not usually a fantasy person so it’s taking me a while to get into the story. My main problem with this genre is how many names get thrown at you that you need to remember. There’s not as many names as Six of Crows but there’s still a lot to absorb and remember. I’ve got a pen and paper next to me while I read this so I can keep track of who’s who and what they do 😅 I’m going to hang on and finish the book regardless. I’m hoping now that I’ve made it a quarter of the way through, I’ll pick up on the characters better than having to keep checking my notes
I haven't finished part one yet but I'm very curious to see how the characters from the 3 points of view are connected. I have many many questions 👀
I finally finished part one! It’s a bit slow going so it’s taking me a lot longer than I’d like to read. It has started to get interesting though. I mean I saw that twist coming but it was exciting to see the realization dawn on everyone else.
I love Sirsha. She’s funny and honestly quite a badass. I’m looking forward to reading more from her point of view. I’m not sure where Aiz story is going to be honest but I’m very intrigued.

I hope your 2025 is off to a good start. Our January/February read is going to be Heir by Sabaa Tahir! I broke down the chapters into parts like the book is so it’s easier for us to discuss.
Hope you enjoy the book!
