I really enjoyed completing the audiobook last week and looking forward to book 2. It was a funny concept even though it was a gruesome environment. I think the narration made great strides in conveying that.
Overall, the characters were lively and the “who done it” keeps everything interesting. It will be quite hilarious to see the assistant transition/continue to develop in book 2. I’m routing for her!
Funnily enough, I read Apprentice to the Villain first without realizing it’s the second book 😅 so I’m considering buying Assistant to the Villain now- is it worth it tho? If I’ve read the second book, that is. I’m rlly curious to hear anyone’s opinion on this before I go ahead and buy the first one.

Start reading. I am having a great time reading this story. Sage is so funny and I love her dinamic with the Villan. I did not expect to like this book. Maybe will be my "guilty pleasure".
Just finished this book on Tuesday and absolutely loved it. Definitely one of my favorite books now. Had me laughing out loud so many times.

I thought it was pretty good, too, but i listened to the audio book and didn't really like the narration.

When I looked it up, it was listed as YA. Hopefully I didn't mess up, but multiple outlets had it listed as YA.

This book has been on my TBR list for a while and I'm glad I finally picked it up, because so far (35%) I'm having a blast and just can't put it down.
I read this book in September and I was hooked from the beginning. Seeing the different points of view was great and really added to the story for me.I started Apprentice to the Villain last night and didn't want to put it down even as my melatonin was kicking in.
I absolutely adored this series and can not wait for the next book! I went in with low expectations and was blown away. It’s totally YA so far and has got to be the slowest of slow burns ever between these two!!
Finished. I really enjoy Sage grow, how she learn to trust the Villan and undrestants that he was a soft space too. I became obessed with the Villan chapters and the way he slowly falls for Evie. Also Kingsley was other creature that I love, and cant wait to know more about him.I also went with low expectations and became obessed with Evie and Trystan story. And I actually enjoy to be slow burn.

Is YA with no smut. We see both characters only fall to each other.
The genre tag for the book says "Adult" And I thought this was spicy?
But I guess I should know now from Kingdom of the Feared that some authors have gotten away with putting spice in YA books...
yeah because the author marketed this as but an adult novel and VERY spicy so im having my concerns lol.i think i might as well start it anyways since i have a copy 🤷🏽♀️

According to Books a Million and Amazon, it is YA. Also, I am almost done with the book and there has been zero spice, just flirtation. YA also doesn't have to do with the level of spice, just the age of the characters.

Absolutely no spice in the first book unless it happens at the very end.

At Barnes and Noble, we have it listed as New Adult Fantasy. I just love this book series. I think it's just supposed to be a humorous and loveable main character with a grumpy love interest.
Absolutely loved it! It was so close to a 5 star for me, so I have high hopes for the next book. Also there is 0 spice. There's barely even any kissing. Only thing I could think of if there is cussing, but I don't even think there was much of that? (Although I don't mind cussing so it wouldn't stick out to me either way)
I've finished the book and there is no smut, only references for her liking smutty books, but nothing explicit.Maybe the heaviest stuff in it are references to violence and murder, but again, nothing that explicit.
I finished this book and really liked it! I love how there is the slow build in the attraction between the characters, and also the plot.
For those concerned with it being spicy, I can now confirm that there is ZERO spice. There is flirtation, kissing, and occasional references to what their thoughts probably are, but no smut.
I did not see that ending coming and I must admit that I was ***SPOILER AHEAD!*** (view spoiler) Anyway, I am super excited to read the next one now!!!!

I didn't even put that hint together until now!!

Is there spice in the second book?

I don't know, I haven't read it yet
I am a little over halfway through the second book and there's no spice, but there's more graphic thoughts about what they want to do to each other.

ok thanks
Rachel wrote: "I am a little over halfway through the second book and there's no spice, but there's more graphic thoughts about what they want to do to each other."what kind of graphic? as in what do they want to do to each other (good or bad)?
Graphic as in they imagine what it'd be like to kiss, touch the other, etc. And I think I'd rate the spice 2/5, since they kiss a couple of times and one of them is described in more detail. That's about it tho, from what I can remember
Yeah, that's pretty accurate. In one scene, they are in only underclothes. But yeah, very little spice.
ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i loved this book so freaken much! Evie and Trystan are such polar opposites it make for such a good book! one of my fav parts was when Trystan woke up to Evie kissing him and he thought it was dream so he deiced to kiss her back and actually enjoy the moment.
Finally getting my copy from the library couldn’t believe how long it took the hold! Must be popular.
