I understand this is the second book in the series. Would you recommend reading book one first?
I'd like to nominate The Midnight Hour by Eve Chase The Midnight Hour. I haven't read this author before but I've heard very good things about this book.

You can if you like Lucia, but I don't think it's essential, as there is no connection, and the back story is quite straightforward in these books. We have actually had the first book, The Killings at Badger's Drift as a group read, but I think Death Of A Hollow Man is better 😊
