Happy New Year! Author here and huge Reader of Historicals, especially WW2, but all eras, really, and I find PLENTY of mystery and thrill in that category. I just published another one, very much mystery/romance/historical, Number 5 Babyn Yar Street: A World War II Novel—Ukraine. Would love to know what everyone's reading. For 2025, we have to put one foot in front of the other, take it a day at a time, and a book at a time, and I think that will do it! Best to all authors and readers for the New Year.
hi everyone, im Omar, 24, and im from Brazil. im always looking for a good time reading mystery books while trying to improve my language skills and make some friends.
hope we have a great year
Hi everyone, my name is Gabe and I’m excited to be apart of this group maybe make some new book friends ☺️ feel free to add me if you’d like
hello!!!!!! i’ve been using goodreads for 3 years now to keep track of the books i read, but ive only just recently started exploring the site and its community. since i typically only read ya (which is bound to change soon), i initially was afraid i “wasn’t qualified” for this group but….. ehive been reading ya mysteries for probably well over a year now (they are my JAM), going to branch out into adult fiction soon. i happen to come from a family of book-lovers, & we’re family friends with a librarian, so i think my love of reading & current hope of becoming a published author/writing as a job one day was bound to happen
i also like to ramble a lot! i write a lot! if that wasnt evident in this post lol
not sure if its possible since my profile is currently stuck on private (wont be for much longer tho), but feel free to add me! looking for goodreads mutuals/friends
Hi there! Author here and always on the lookout for exciting new reads also!
Just had my first book published, Jeffrey Dahmer: Uncovering The Case for Innocence.
Would love to know what crime books everyone is reading, and what stands out!
All the best for 2025 to all!
Hi, I'm Christian Fennell. I am the author of four books, two collections of short stories and essays, and two novels. I am currently the Editor-in-chief of The Nelligan Review, a literary and cultural review journal.
Hey everyone! I'm so excited to be here with you all!I'm Julia M. Dugan, a lifelong book lover—so much so that I ended up writing my own! I’m always on the hunt for my next great read. My tastes are a bit all over the place, but I especially love slow-burn domestic and psychological thrillers, along with classic novels, romance, and contemporary fiction.
Since my debut novel (Juniper) is a slow-burn domestic thriller, that genre definitely holds a special place in my heart (and on my bookshelf)!
I’d love to hear what everyone’s reading right now—any must-reads I should add to my list?
I am new. Just joined a few days ago. Been checking out all the topics. I am a big Rex Stout/Nero Wolfe Fan. Looking forward to being part of the group and getting some good recommendations for new books and authors.

Welcome JD, what kind of books have you discoverd so far?
Hello! I'm Olex from Slovakia.I recently came back from a reading hiatus, and I dove back into thrillers, mysteries and crimes genres. Currently, I mostly read standalones thrillers such as Lucy Foley, Lisa Jewell, Karin Slaughter, Riley Sager etc. but I'm also a huge fan of Lisa Regan, M.J. Arlidge, Angela Marsons, Agatha Christie and more.
Thanks for having me. :)
Hi,I look for works outside of the mainstream. I also come from a home of common sense. I avoid the outlandish and the preposterous, but still would value reccs and friends.
I'm Gail. Everyone calls me Frenchy (you can work it out). I'm a reader that one day wants to write a book. I'm only 26 and have lived in almost every country in Europe. My parents are in banking. Privately schooled and have holidayed in countless places.
📚 New kid on the Goodreads block 🐣Hey everyone – brand new here and proudly wearing my Goodreads greenhorn badge.
I write satire and psychological thrillers – yes, it’s as chaotic as it sounds.
Books have always been my great love (and probably the reason I gave up on sports early. But hey, I discovered wine instead – balance, right? 🍷).
While my waistline suffered, my brain thrived.
Thanks to stories that pulled me in, shook me up, and left me better (or beautifully broken).
As an author, I’m obsessed with raw realism. Unfiltered. Gritty. Human.
As a reader, I’m simply addicted to stories that stick to your ribs.
Excited to explore, discuss, discover – and maybe recommend a gem or two.
Let’s connect through words, worlds & wonderful madness. 🙌
Hello. Everyone I know calls me, 'Zo'. I'm from a big family, my siblings are all girls. We are a family of amatuer academics. My parents who met at university and then walked out, and my parents are incredibly wise, many years ago called university (universities), 'An institution of ideological fruit cakes.' I'm here to learn from what I read. Thrilling reads are on my menu, not outlandish thrillers. Recs anyone?Ohh, yeah. Friends would be good!
Hi Everyone,Newbie indie author here. I have two self-published eBooks in my debut series - Shadow of Justice. Currently working on Book 3. My genre is crime fiction, murder and mystery.
Thanks for accepting me into the group. You can find out more about me in my Goodreads profile.
Just a girl. Struggling to stay in the black and now reading to learn and not to escape.Friends and recommendations would be nice.
Hi, I'm from Finland.I will be using Google Translate. I speak English, we all do, but spent my youth as far from books as I could. I am born to a cottage industry family, we make and sell, we grow and eat, we exchange.
It is Kindle that gives me the chance to read. They are a cost I can afford.
Book recommendations and friends would make me happy.
Thank you.
Hi all,I’m a Scot, living in Scotland and working in the food standards industry.
Thanks for letting me in, I hope to learn lots from being here.
Please add me :))
Hey everyone! I’m Allison, not new to reading, but newer to Goodreads after a friend recommended it. I will read nearly anything, but my favorite genres are thrillers, mystery and true crime; however I also like to read the “self help” type books, because I like to think I’m into improving myself, but maybe I just need help! 😉😂 I Will occasionally pick up a biography/memoir of someone I find interesting and rarely turn down an opportunity to read a book that has been adapted into a movie (even though I’m often let down by the latter).
I’ll be on an extended physical recovery from surgery this summer and would rather spend three months reading books than just watching tv and staring at my phone, so I’d be grateful for some good recommendations!
Hi all, I'm living in London. As every month comes there are fewer and fewer pennies in my pocket: I’ve only myself to blame, I voted…….. Staying in is actually more enjoyable than I first thought: books, books, and more books appeals.
Please friend me.
Hi everyone, I’m Amy Turing. I write techno-thrillers, and I’ve just finished the first book in a new series — it’s about AI, control, and what happens when prediction turns into manipulation. When I’m not working on the book, I’m usually off screens — walking, reading old books (both digital and paperback), or doing anything offline to stay grounded like gardening.
Currently I am finishing reading The Golem by Gustav Meyrink. It is a really dreamy noir book that somehow reminds me of the digital world we live in.
Looking forward to finding other fans of thrillers, conspiracies, and weird, shadowy corners of the world.
Happy to be part of this group!
Hi everyone! I’m still learning the ropes here at Goodreads and new to the group but glad to be here! I love smart, funny mysteries that aren’t too intense, like the Thursday Murder Club and No.1 Ladies Detective Agency series. I’m a traditionally & indie published author who doesn’t aspire to writing mysteries. They’re fun to read but I’m definitely more of a Dr. Watson than a Holmes - usually the last one to figure out whodunnit. Looking forward to discovering good books and adventures!
Greetings everyone!my first name is elle but for anonymity, my pen name is m.r.k huff. I work as active duty military and will graduate with my MFA in creative writing this November! At that time I will work to publish my first novel, Grasping at Smoke (fear not I will never push it on you all). I love thriller novels and look forward to interacting with you all!
Hi! I'm Satina =) Mystery is my favorite genre and about 90% of what I read on a regular basis. Favorite authors include, in no order; Benjamin Stephenson, Dylan Young, Steig Larsson, but my favorite books are from a bunch of different authors - ReaMde by Neal Stephenson, I Have Some Questions For You by Rebecca Makkai, Thirteen by Richard K. Morgan, and so on.
Hi everyone! I’m Alejandro, from Tarragona-Spain. I’ve always been a fan of reader (not than much as kid), now I’m enjoying it more than ever, especially of fantasy, science fiction and mystery thrillers. Lately, I’ve been exploring more contemporary and historical fiction too. Some of my favorite writers are Sarah J. Maas, Rebecca Yarros, Peter V. Brett, Paolini Christopher and Patrick Graham. I joined this club to connect with fellow book lovers, discover new books and expand my reading list. Looking forward to reading with you all! Can’t wait to get some great book recommendations! Excited to be here!!!
Hi mystery lovers! I'm new-ish. Joined years ago, but kinda fell off the Internet lately. Looking forward to reading the current (July 2025) group reads sports themed books: The Running Club and Better Off Dead. I'm also going to pick up Dick Francis's horse racing book, Odds Against--I'll bet that's a good one.Note: If you want to go to my Goodreads author profile and ask me questions, that would be fun! (The Ask the Author feature) I enjoy answering them.
Hi all,I'm a Canadian author located in Trenton, Ontario and I'm delighted to discover this group! I'm looking forward to knowing more about the group's interests and feedback on books in my genre. My suspenseful book "Devious Web" is turning 10 months old on August 15th and will soon have a sibling: an audiobook version. It's been a wild ride publishing and then producing an audiobook, and the learning continues!
Hi everyone!I’m Tiffany—thrillers, mysteries, and suspense are my favorite escape (especially the ones with jaw-dropping twists or layered emotional stakes). I recently read Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier and couldn’t put it down—it reminded me why I love this genre so much.
When I’m not chasing after my kids or trying to read with one eye open past bedtime, I’m usually hunting for my next binge-worthy read. I’m excited to be part of this group and connect with fellow readers who appreciate a good plot twist as much as I do.
Feel free to say hi or send a friend request—I’d love to swap recommendations!
Greetings. Relatively new to this platform. Recently put the first two books of my private eye mystery series on Amazon (Audacity is My Middle Name and A Little Splash of Panache). Been working on them off and on for probably over twenty years. I'm very proud of this series and finishing the last two plus I'm working on a new paranormal mystery series. Still learning how to be the best independent author I can. I would really like to encourage everyone to check out my books and give me some great feedback. It would be greatly appreciated.Outside of being an author, I currently live in the KCMO area, big car guy, coffee snob, Disney fanatic and Jacksonville Jaguar fan. Please feel free to say hello or ask any question and certainly check out my books
Hey y’all! I’m new to reading and have fallen victim to the obsession, would love to get more friends on here to see and active feed with everyone’s updates and reviews :) add me!
Hey all I'm Brittany. I'm trying to become a reader again after not picking up a book in forever. I really enjoy thriller and horror books. I'm currently reading Zero Sum Game by SL Huang with my bf, and The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix on my own. I don't have any friends here yet but I'd love to make some so I can see what books everyone else is reading!
Love medical thrillers? The Knoxate Series by Black M.D.—including The Meaning of It and The Memory Candidate.
Hi guys, I’m Allie and currently living in Louisiana. Big true crime nerd(obviously lol). Love reading about cases and figuring out the why behind them. Can’t wait to chat and swap recs!
Hello, Mystery, Crime, and Thriller Fans!I’m Scott Lothian—newly retired from a career in oncology and IT pharmacy—and I’m thrilled to be diving back into reading, especially thrillers.
I’m also an author, and I’ve written a murder-mystery thriller trilogy (The Jonathan Dearfield Trilogy), and I have a new biotech thriller (The Resistance Gene) coming out in Nov 2025.
I’d love to share more with fellow fans of the genre. Looking forward to great conversations and recommendations!
