Martin | 2 comments My first recommendation for you Fraser are the four Wayfarers books by Becky Chambers. Martha Wells recommended them on BlueSky about a year ago, and boy am I ever glad she did.

Book 1 is The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet. Book 2 is A Closed and Common Orbit. Book 3 is Record of a Spaceborn Few. Book 4 is The Galaxy and the Ground Within. They are Hershey sequels per se. Less plot-driven, but more character studies in a common universe. They explore issues of identity and belonging, while accomplishing an almost Tolkien-like quality where you completely care about all of the characters.

The next recommendation are Becky Chambers’ two Monk and Robot short novels, A Prayer for the Crown-Shy and A Psalm for the Wild-Built. I can’t say enough about these books, and their explorations of kind humanity.

Finally, Alex Segura and Rob Hart’s sci-fi spy novel Dark Space is just rollicking good fun. Hard to put down. And for a non-sci-fi series, Alex Segura’s novels Secret Identity and Alter Ego are simply amazing. The first one is set in the comics industry of the mid-1970s, while the sequel is modern day. If you’re at all interested in comics and their creation, you’ll love them.
