Looking for Alaska is a must read! John Green has a lot of fantastic and heart wrenching novels. I’d also recommend The Book Thief, but it may come across as more childish (as its target audience is a younger audience). You might also enjoy How it Feels to Float. I personally wasn’t a huge fan of How it Feels to Float but I know a lot of people loved it.
