I couldn't decide which book for Feb.This one is KU and I've already dl it in prep. Hope its good :)
I've read the first 5 chapters and I like it so far. I love that the protagonist is a werewolf handy woman. The book starts with her hauling in a new toilet. I appreciated the unique opener.
I have 3 Lindsay Buroker series in process right now, so not sure I will start a 4th (one is on the back burner). I wonder if this is related to the DBD and Legacy of Magic? And it looks like no is the answer to that question, on her website. She started 3 magic contemporary series at the same time (one is related to DBD) and has 1 or 2 in each. Now she is prolific in writing so probably will keep up but right now there are only 2 (as of tomorrow when the second comes out), in this series.
I've never read anything with you guys (too many groups, too little time) but I love Buroker, though I am not much for werewolves (they are my least favorite fantasy entities generally) I will dig out my copy and try to join.

I’ve started too, but sadly I’m kinda meh on it. Some things buggin’ me. I’ll write more once I’ve finished.
I've finished it, and want to see what happens in the next book. But I agree it isn't top teer but its better than some I've read lately.
Well, this was a bust for me, sadly. I didn't like the MC, she fell flat for me. Actually, everyone did, except maybe her intern. Sublimate/sublimation was only used a dozen or so times, but damn if it didn't feel like it was triple that. Don't know why, but it bugged me, badly.
Spoilers comin' next, y'all ---- stop here if you haven't read it, I'm not blocking anything
"That is the way of the wolf."
There's the human/wolf split yet she's so traumatized by her wolf's past actions that she surpresses her wolf for decades? I get that it'd be traumatic b/c he was her boyfriend, but she says she sublimated (🙄) b/c she feels she "... lost her temper and killed him." She didn't lose her temper, she didn't kill him, her wolf did in the heat of the moment, which sounded like he/his wolf had a hand in, as well. Then, her mom, while trying to reassure? her, says, “If he couldn’t fend you off when your temper was raised ...", which again shouldn't be a factor. The author makes clear human and wolf are separate; when a wolf they lose most of their humanity, so why would the human's temper even be a factor in those types of situations? It wouldn't. The wolf would do what a wolf would do ("lupine tendencies") without the human's temper coming into play. Then, throw in the discrepancy of "My memory was fuzzy after all these years ... " (pg117) and "After all these years, the memory of that night remained sharp ..." (pg123) 🙄
Sadly, I doubt I'll continue with this series. There's a slight twinge of curiosity about what the ex is up to, what's behind the box and locket, what will come of the relationship btw her and Duncan, but I don't know that I can push through another installment. I had high hopes, but I likely would've DNF'd this one had it not been BOM for the group.

I just read half of it this afternoon. Liking it pretty well, though I see what Zoi means about not liking Luna, but I was liking the whole thing really well until (view spoiler) that's where I am now and not liking the turn of events. We shall see. I will probably want to read the next unless is goes wildly wrong
I finished this and was not sure if I should rate it 3 or 4 stars because I didn't like it as much as the others of hers I have read. But I will certainly read the next one if anyone is up for it
Kateblue wrote: "I finished this and was not sure if I should rate it 3 or 4 stars because I didn't like it as much as the others of hers I have read. But I will certainly read the next one if anyone is up for it"I rated it 4 stars, but qualified that in my review as 3.5 stars.
So, do we just read the next one (book 2) on our own schedule? Or should we set a date? Soon, I hope, because book 3 comes out in March
You're most definitely welcome to read on with the series at your leisure. We're only slated to read/discuss this one. Feel free to share your thoughts on the rest of the series here, if you'd like. I'm sure others would be interested in sharing their thoughts w/ya, too.
Please comment when you read the next one Kateblue.I have intentions of reading it, so I'll comment here also.
I did read Relics of the Wolf (Magnetic Magic #2) and I liked it. I am not sure if I will continue right away as I have many books that are coming up soon. And I still need to read Jacky #2 so that I can read Jacky #3 with you all next month
another reason I do not want to continue right away is I have CRS (can't remember s**t) and if I keep reading these books as they come out I will forget them, I will prob wait until they are mostly out before I continue
I have CRS (or sometimes I'll say CRC (crap)) too and it makes rereading enjoyable. If your memory is great, I cannot imagine that reread is much fun. So think of the benefit. ;-)
