Once There Were Wolves question

Why are print publishers shrinking font sizes?
Two books I have purchased recently had to be returned as they were not readable.
I compared with older books on my shelves and confirmed that older paperback books had reasonably sized fonts. I guess I will need to read electronic books even more than I already do.
Sigh.
