We have the best 25 books coming out in the next six months and the best 25 books of the last 25 years. Goodbye to the Science Fiction Book Club, our final thoughts on The Ministry of Time, and we kick off our read of The Will of the Many.

Mark (markmtz) | 2836 comments Veronica was dismayed that the wiki's Video Show page only had three episodes, so...

Links go to the Internet Archive because the Geek & Sundry Youtube channel no longer offers access to Sword and Laser videos, except for a trailer and a GRRM interview.

Mark (markmtz) | 2836 comments Based on comments here and on the Discord, these are some of the authors which the Miéville Effect has convinced most of us that we've read them as Sword and Laser picks:

China Miéville
Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant
Jim Butcher
Timothy Zahn
S.A. Chakraborty
Bram Stoker

That's it. I'm nominating Dracula this year.

Anne Schüßler (anneschuessler) | 849 comments I actually would have guessed that we read Embassytown by Miéville. Glad that we're all wrong.

Oaken | 424 comments I read the first book of her Djinn series and wasn't impressed. But I really liked The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi. Which is funny because I would not have picked it up if I had recognized her as the author of the Djinn books.

I have added The Miéville Effect to the Glossary in the Sword and Laser Wiki.

https://swordandlaser.fandom.com/wiki...

Our Glossary seems a bit short. Surely there should be more we can add.
