I'm still reading Shades of Grey and enjoying the humor. I really enjoyed the trip to the unLibrary with it's book titles.
Will definitely have to get to that Petra. Just the idea of an unLibrary made me chuckle. Really enjoyed the few books I read over the last couple of years featuring unusual libraries- and librarians. The Invisible Library might be one.I was looking for something peaceful and uplifting and short, because I'm preparing for a number of long books, and really, two devastating books needed more than the Richardson to loosen me up ( it was ultimately sad). Now I have 3 devastating books practically one after the other. The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden started slow, and just when I was thinking, about 50 pages in, to ditch it out of dislike for the main character, a young woman of 30 years with the qualities of an old curmudgeon...she starts to wake up. The twists and surprises really knocked me for a loop.
So I decided to read Eimear McBrides The Lesser Bohemians and heaven help me, I find myself impatient already with the stream of this consciousness. After a bit of a struggle, I did like her other book.
The snow did arrive here, quietly in the night. The sun has been bright all afternoon so hopefully the buses will be running tomorrow.
It's actually been a beautiful day. May you be having such a gentle snow experience Petra. How about other parts on our route here?
Ellie I am so curious about what's happening with you in particular and New York in general after the election.
should have mentioned that I am now reading Creation Lake by Rachel Kushner. Its gotten very mixed reviews but I am engrossed. Also reading The Gates of Gaza. I've only read 4 chapters but already cried a few times
I finished reading Shades of Grey the other day. It's a very unique book and I enjoyed it a lot. I went to the library today to get the second book of the trilogy, Red Side Story.Shades of Grey is a fun, humorous book. The main character is rather Columbo-like, in that he's a clumsy, seemingly unknowing but very observant. This seems like a very simple World but it's darker than it appears on the surface. I'm intrigued on where it will go next.
it notes the date on this comment as Thursday afternoon but it only appeared now, two days later.Be that as it may, I'm glad you
enjoyed shades of Grey Petra. I adored Creation Lake which made it hard to carry on with any other book but I did finally get in to Dandelion which is one of the Canada reads choices. And now thoroughly into A Sleepwalker's Guide to Dancing
So February was kind of fun, I read some fantastic books in addition to the ones I mentioned in my last post. Playground by Richard Powers and There are Rivers in the Sky by Elif Shafak. Now Im ready for something lighter and less demanding fun.
Now that the weather is improving I am imagining Petra that you are back to your walks. What are you following up now?
