I've read it a couple of years ago and it easily topped my favourite list. This book is so much of everything, and all of it excellent.
I waited for about 2 months on my library waitlist for this only to DNF it about 25% in. Like, I get what Jimenez is trying to do with the whole frame story structure (he's not the first), but it just felt tedious and pretentious. I'm generally a patient reader but I've had to learn to be less patient with fantasy books that feel like a chore for me. Happy reading to you all who feel differently about this one.
Like a.g.e. I read this a couple years ago and loved it. I listened to it, but after a few comments from fellow readers I also got the ebook and could work out what it was that made listening so difficult. Yes, it was the structure (mostly the asides), but after I figured that out, got used to it, I could hear how the narrator altered his voice subtly and I could hear the difference.
