They are so perfect together, and I will read fics of them until the day I freaking die. I can't explain exactly why I love them so much, but I think it has something to do with the fact that I identify so much with Hermione and am, ofc, in love with Draco. <333 (+9)

(💘 Which character would be the best at writing love letters? Why?) I'm surprising myself with this answer, but honestly? I think it's Theo. Yeah, he's a cold-blooded murderer, but we see how much he loves Daphne and how he would do anything for her. All the things he left at her grave, they were like a love letter in and of themselves. And so, if he were sending love letters to the right person (cough cough daphne cough cough), I think he'd do pretty well with it. Yes, even better than Astoria. (+9)

(💘 If you could change the ending of the romance in the book, how would you rewrite it?) I'd love if they, you know, DIDN'T FREAKING DIE??? But also...I think I would have enjoyed if they had fallen in and said 'i love you' earlier - it would have helped with the story pacing little bit more. Idk tho, they are PERFECT, so I don't mind it much. (+9)

My favorite couple in the book was definitely Claire and Gibsie. They were just so cute together and I loved the childhood friends to lovers aspect of the book. I cannot wait for their next book. They are both just amazing people and their relationship is beautiful. I just love them so much!!

I would love to go on a Valentine’s date with Patrick. He is just so sweet and nice to everyone. I love how kind he is and how he’s always trying to be there for his friends. I also cannot wait for his book to come out to find out more about him.

💘 If you could send a Valentine’s card to any character, who would it be and what would it say?
I would love to send Valentine’s cards to the girls. It would be so fun exchanging cards and chocolates with them. We would also have a little galentine’s party a couple of days before of after the 14th so that we could all hang out together. It would be a fun and nice activity.

💘 If the book had a romantic playlist, what song would be on it? Why?
Lover by Taylor Swift would definitely be on the playlist for Gibsie and Claire. I just think the song really highlights what they feel for each other. On the part of the song where it says “Swear to be overdramatic and true to my lover” really captures the essence of their relationship.

💘 Would you recommend this book as a Valentine’s read? Why or why not?
I wouldn’t really recommend this as a Valentine’s read since it deals with heavier topics and I think Valentine’s read should be light hearted and cute. This book is more of a story about the character's separately dealing with their pain so I wouldn't really see as a Valentine's read. Now, if you’re looking for something more emotional and serious I would definitely recommend this.

💘 Which character would be the best at writing love letters? Why?
I think Claire and Lizzie would be really good at writing letters. I think Claire would be the person to give her friends a card at any special occasion with the most beautiful words written. I think Lizzie, on the other hand, would like to write letter for herself and they would be really serious and emotional.

💘 If this book were a romance movie, what would the title be?
I think it would be called “The Boy Across the Street.” Since Gibsie and Claire live right in front of each other I think this would be a very fitting name. The movie would probably follow them from when they are kids all the way to when they grow up.

💘 Would you want to experience the romance in the book? Why or why not?
I would love to experience the type of love that Claire and Gibsie feel from one another. I love how they stick by each other’s sides even when things start to get tough. I also loved the way they treat each other with so much kindness and rarely get mad at one another, and even when they do get mad they are still able to work through their problems.

💘 If you could change the ending of the romance in the book, how would you rewrite it?
Since this is not the last book about this couple I’m not sure if I would change anything on it. I think Chloe Walsh will add even more depth to their separate stories as well as their relationship, and add more healing to it as well (hopefully) on Gibsie’s and Claire’s next book.

💘 Which fictional couple do you ship the most? Why?
I ship Shannon and Johnny a lot. I don't know if it's because they were the first ones to get a book or if their story just really got to me. Either way, I think they are perfect for one another. I love how they are always there for each other and how they got each other’s backs. Their relationship is really beautiful and heartwarming.


💖Personal Review (+8):
This book was like a roller coaster and I was ridding the front row of it. While I could see the very top of the ride coming up I still couldn’t see the fall. When I finally reached the top a million of emotions crashed over to me as I saw how steep the drop was. That was basically how I felt when the big secret of the book came out. I knew what it was, I felt it in my bones, but nothing could prepare me for how gut wrenching it was to have my biggest fear confirmed on the paper. While being a very emotional and sad book, Chloe Walsh still accomplished to make it quirky, funny, and beautiful even with all the trauma. I loved Claire and Gibsie’s relationship and think that they are perfect for one another. You can really see, all throughout the book, how much these two love and care for each other which is simply beautiful. While Understand and see that Claire and Gibsie’s story needs more so that they can have a closure I still don’t get why this book gets so much hate, I simply loved what Chloe Walsh did with their first book and how much depth she put to their individual stories and relationship! Love them so so so much!

He is an ancient being from another series almost set in this universe, and I know he’s a villain, but then why is he so damn fine? Red flag? No I’m colorblind for his. He is just so passionate about everything he puts his mind to, and I feel like being his lover would be so much fun, sorta like Don’t Blame Me by taylor swift but hey, I’ll take being with the darkling with any inconveniences happily! +9

💘 I would love to send a Valentine’s Day card to Josef. He just overcame being a nutcracker and is now alive, and I think he just needs a really big hug and some sweet love that doensnt demand nonstop from him like his previous admirers did. I just wanna give him the biggest hug ever, and he fully deserves that Valentine’s Day card! +9

💘 I would not recommend this as a valentines read becuase just like the title suggests, it is a short story collection set in the grishaverse full of midnight dark tales brimming with dangerous magic. It is a little grim at times, twisting and nodding to iconic old fairytales, but Leigh Bardugo always adds a different plot or a specially dark touch to them! It’s not very romantic, but it’s a wonderful read regardless, especially after reading the grishaverse! +9

💘 i think the character that would be best at writing love letters would be Roffe. He is a manipulative self centered prince and he literally made a girl fall in love with him to use her for his own selfish gain and plot, but he okayed the part very well. He could probably use that royal education to script together some fancy words and add in that Emmy-award-winning seductive lying, and boom, love letter! +9

💘 the one story whose ending i would change is the Witch of Duva. In the end we find out that the girls father is a cannibal demon and using her own fingers, the girl and the witch make a gingerbread version of her to kill him with. I wish he was just a khitka monster instead of a cannibal and that we didn’t need to get that excess gore, I’m gonna keep my version in my head, thank you. +9

Adaira and Jack ughhh, they were literally so cute together and i loved them more mainly because they were childhood rivals/enemies (and she still calls Jack "my old menace" like hello? im crying i love that so much) and they're both such soft but fierce characters too! it felt like reading a detailed fairytale about them and they match each other perfectly, the tension and vibes between them was perfect and the slowburn was also perfect and just amazing

Rowan and Sloane were my favorite couple in this book. Other than the gorey parts and sensual parts they did seem to actually love each other. The cooking together was really sweet. Rowan was so worried for Sloane when she got hurt and was scared to ever risk her life again, but Sloane repeatedly reminded him that it would be okay! It wasn’t a toxic relationship and I think that’s the best I can hope for from a book like this.

If the book had a romantic playlist,
what song would be on it? Why?

I think that Funeral Grey by Waterparks would be in the romantic playlist. The song gives “oh this girl drives me crazy I love her so much” and “all i can think about is her”. That’s Rowan. Sloane lives rent free in his head 98% of the time. The remaining percents go to murder and cooking lol.

Dean and Cassie were my favorite couple in the book. Dean, despite his traumas, still tried to comfort Cassie when she found out about her mother’s remains. He also comforted her at the end when she saw that one of the characters had the symbol on her mother’s casket on their body. He held her and consoled her throughout the book and it was so heartfelt even though he wasn’t sure he was doing it right.

💘 Which character would you most want to go on a Valentine’s date with? Why?
MICHAEL TOWNSEND. That man is everything. I NEED. He’s so caring and his trauma speaks to me in ways it should not. The way he treats Cassie??? I’m sorry, Dean, but I want Michael. Also, he would go all out on the date by using his dad’s money. I have no problems spending an abusive dad’s money.

💘 If you could send a Valentine’s card to any character, who would it be and what would it say?
I would write one to Sloane, because she really deserves it. I can’t believe what happened to Aaron. She didn’t deserve that and she also doesn’t deserve her horrible dad. I would tell her that she is loved and that Aaron loved her too. I would also tell her that approximately 145 million Valentine's Day cards are exchanged every february 14th. (She loves statistics)

💘 Which character would be the best at writing love letters? Why?
I think Lia would be the best at writing love letters. She can lie so easily and she could use that to manipulate the words in her love letter. It would be a clean letter, but in reality you’d have no idea how much she’s hinting at her not actually admiring you. Also she’s really good at flirting with people to get their testimony, so she could easily right a believable fake love letter.

I personally did not love this book. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it and finished it within twenty four hours, it was just not really for me. I have seen many people say that this was the best book out of the series but I personally don't think it is. I did not connect with Dean as much as I wished to. I did love Allie tho!!! Overall it was not a bad book but not being able to connect with the MMC made me not enjoy it as much as I could have.

My favorite character of the book was Allie. I loved how nice, kind, and strong she was all throughout the book. I would recommend this book as a Valentine's read. It was fun, quick, and had romance in it. I wasn't really a book that was set out to be a valentine's day book but I could definitely see myself reading this on valentines or recommending it to one of my friends to read it on Valentines.

💘 Would you want to experience the romance in the book? Why or why not?
To be completely honest I did not love the romance in this book but I still enjoyed how nice and kind they were to one another. While I wouldn't want to live some parts of this romance I would love to experience others such as the respect and the care that they felt for one another.

I would not recommend this book as a Valentine's read. This was a mystery thriller book with a little (when I say little I mean minuscule) romance subplot. While I would not recommend this to be read as a Valentine's read I would still recommend people to read it at some point.

(MINOR SPOILER!!!!) I think the best character at writing letters would be Vivian because she was always writing in her journal. I think Vivian would be the type of person to love to write letters and send them to people. All the writing that she did on her journal was really good and personal so I think she would be able to write really heartfelt letters.

I would not like to experience anything that comes from this book. Everyone pretty much creeped me out. The romance subplot was a very small subplot so it did not make me fall in love with the love interest or made me want to have anything that those two (the main character and the love interest) had.

I would DEFINITELY recommend this as a valentine's read. The whole book feels like a second chance romance rom-com. While it deals with some sad topics it was still so good and romantic. I love Liz and Wes so so so much. I told all my friends that had already read Better Than the Movies to read this sequel!!

I would love to experience the type of love that Liz and Wes have towards each other. Even with all the problems that they had throughout the book and even before it, you could still see how much they loved each other. Wes trying to make Liz get back together with him was so cute!! I love them so much😭😭
