It was sad for end of Skip's character. He was a great support for Sam and she will miss him as her sounding board and support. I liked the story, but would have liked to see more about the investigation and the corruption uncovered.
To be honest, I was disappointed in this book (and the previous one). Too many contrived plot points and plot holes, repetitive conversations, and fluff. I'm going to be taking a break from the series for a while. Maybe some distance will allow me to get my motivation to read it back.
Lauren, there are only two books left and you can add this to your Completed series list for 2025. I'm gonna finish it and claim that victory even thought I have wanted to quit each month.

I'm going to quit after this series ends. There are too many things I have a problem with so far. I hate to see what happens when Nick becomes the president. I won't be able to roll my eyes fast enough.
I can see quitting, but like a train wreck, I just can't seem to look away, I am seriously thinking about continuing, My question is why would a publisher continue this absurd series? Why would anyone buy these books? If my library didn't have them, I wouldn't even consider this series to read.
This book was my least favorite of the series. I wasn't surprised that Skip died, but he is a character that will be missed. Overall, the book was a bit depressing.I think I'll finish this series, but not continue when Nick becomes President. Politics are depressing enough without putting them in a romantic suspense series.

Why would any..."Anita, the publishing house is Marie Force's. The last time I received an ARC (not this series) she had several romance writers signed.
