Studio Ghibli discussion

I recently read the book the movie was based on! I didn't even realize it existed for the longest time, so that was a nice discovery. There wasn't much of a serious plot line aside from Kiki getting used to living in her new town. The book was really cute and wholesome though. definitely geared towards younger readers.

I haven't actually seen the movie, but I'm curious how it compares.

I have only seen the start of the movie, I never finished it.

What did you think of the beginning?

I think it started great, a little hard to know what’s happening and why but I thought it was good!

I thought the book was just okay compared to the movie. Kiki's character was a bit flat and way too eager to please - to the point of helping really shady people and never being portrayed as wrong for doing so. And I found book Tombo to be really annoying and could not figure out what Kiki saw in him
