Hi Fatema! Crime and Punishment was my first Dostoievski, i read it 4 months ago and still did not forget about this incredible writing. The very long descriptions were difficult to assimilate at first, it was tough, i was nearly falling asleep.. but when the crucial moment came up i couldn’t get the book off of my hands ! Such a dark book, also psychologically very interesting ! It goes very deep on how the human brain works after doing a very regrettable decision..
I am almost in the middle of the book and there are few points I would want to express1. Dostoevsky knew that readers are intelligent and he strongly believed that intelligence is accompanied by sorrow.
2. Here in Crime and Punishment, I could see Dostoevsky has written a part of him as Raskolnikov - Intelligent, an extraordinary one who believes he can outsmart everyone and disappointed in shame that he has to live around ordinary ones.
3. For people who believes the same like Dostoevsky and Raskolnikov, this book is a slow venom that can further catalyst their perception of fellow humans and society.
