G V | 7 comments Hi. I hope I am posting in the right thread. But I would greatly appreciate book recommendations where the story is not that much detached from the current reality like an ordinary man goes on an unexpected space journey or an alien conspiracy/invasion novel more focused on ideas and plot twists rather than battles and horror. I would prefer something relatively recent - last decade or so. Thank you.

Quarter Share by Nathan Lowell starts a series where the focus is on life on a trading vessel rather than battles and horrors. There’s an omnibus of the first three books too: The Lois McKendrick Omnibus: Trader's Tales 1-3

For something with a bit more action but also more humor try Fair Trade: An Alien Invasion Story by Mackey Chandler

And Reader Discussions is the perfect place to post!

Oh, and perhaps Bob's Saucer Repair by Jerry Boyd. I love that series.

Did any of those suggestions work for you, G?

Hi, I am finishing Fair Trade. Exactly what I needed, thanks a lot. Interesting spin on the first contact and kinda my type without violence and still grounded in reality. A bit too technical at places, but makes sense after I read about the author!
I will start others afterwards.
