holly holly (flowerpixel) | 34 comments I know Abercrombie is extremely hyped but I'm 1/3 of the way through before they are hanged and I love it! I'm shocked at how funny it is??? And how it's not gratuitous or graphic at all. Like there's nonstop violence but it's really not bad

Glokta is an s tier character for me, right up with Fitz chivalry

Anyways if anyone is on the fence like I was, it's definitely worth trying. I wouldn't be put off by the word "grimdark"

*Disclaimer, I have not read the entire trilogy yet

This is on my list! Funnily recommended by a friend who loved Farseer Trilogy as much as I did! Let me know how it goes 👀 I might start that after finishing Cosmere

holly holly (flowerpixel) | 34 comments I'll post a nonspoiler update after I'm finished with the first three books! the pacing reminds me of Hobb bc the first book was "slow" and introduced a lot of characters. the second book is extremely political and actiony. now I'm just worried about my favorite characters dying 😅

holly holly (flowerpixel) | 34 comments I just finished the trilogy!

I loved it.

so it is violent but I can read about violence. I just don't like watching it in movies etc. there's only one paragraph in the trilogy I found very disturbing.

other notes:

be prepared to read about combat nonstop. normally I am not into reading about combat but the writing is so character-driven, I enjoyed it

there's a lot of different povs. doesn't always work for me but I became attached to two different characters pretty quickly

I definitely think Jacqueline would enjoy it

anyone who appreciates a dark sense of humor should give it a try
