This will be our discussion thread for chapters 5-8 of The Berry Pickers by Amanda Peters. Please share your thoughts now that you have finished the first half of the book.

Linda Martin (lindajm) | 20 comments I've read the first eight chapters. The family has multiple serious tragedies ongoing. I have no idea who could have taken Ruthie but my primary suspect was Mr. Ellis, the land owner. Perhaps that's too obvious, and I like your idea that the LEO was involved. I also wonder if the adoptive father was there. A reread of chapter one provides a long list of names of people who were in the area when it happened.

Emily (emilyesears) | 27 comments I just finished chapter 8. This was a very sad 4 chapters. Charlie dying, Ruthie/Norma losing her baby, Ben seeing Ruthie/Norma, Joe’s accident. I assume the point is that tragedy begets tragedy and generational trauma begets more trauma.

I am finding it very easy to read. I suspect I’ll finish up the whole thing in a day or two.

I finished chapter 8 a few days ago and haven't picked it back up until I could get on here and comment. My goodness, this family has had so much tragedy! Now I can't remember what all I wanted to talk about. But I'm ready to get back into the story. I had some other book club books that needed to be finished first.
