After the warrant was issued for her arrest, Gretchen shows up at the police station, worse for wear, demanding to be arrested. When Josie balks and suggests they invite the state police in to talk, Gretchen punches her, forcing them to take her into custody. How did you read this at the time?

Gretchen was desperate for some reason. She needed to be in custody to feel safe.

That Gretchen needed to be arrested in order for something bad not to happen.... just was not sure of what at the time.

I knew immediately she was desperate to be arrested, as did Josie. I didn’t know the why but was clear they should go with the flow.
