Sam (ecowitch) | 86 comments Okey dokey, following the group poll, which was won by eco/environmental fiction, I've had a scout around along with some help from group members for reading options and have come up with the six choices below. I've tried to get a bit of variety in the style and content of each and hope everyone will be able to find at least one they fancy giving a go. So now you just need to have look and pick which you want to give a go. Happy reading :-)

Green Power by Charles Vrooman

Black Tide by Caroline Carver

Ecotopia by Ernest Callenbach

Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut

Prey by Michael Crichton

Note I'll set up the discussion threads later this week ready for all the fabulous comments I'm sure are going to emerge :-) and feel free to comment here on which book(s) you want/hope/are going to read for Nov-Dec

Sam (ecowitch) | 86 comments Charles asked me to note that that signed copies of Green Power are available at a reduced price on amazon.com from GP_AUTHOR and if anyone wants more information on the novel and author, you can visit: http://www.freewebs.com/vrooman :-)

Sam: You have Black Tide listed twice. Shouldn't the second be "Ecotopia" by Ernest Callenbach

Sam (ecowitch) | 86 comments Well spotted thanks Charles, only just noticed that myself, obviously I wasn't quite awake yesterday lol

Sam (ecowitch) | 86 comments Since no-one else has taken the plunge, I'm going to dive right in ;-) I'm hoping to read Green Power but have to wait for the library to get it but in the mean time I've read Black Tide, Ecotopia and Prey so will get involved in the discussions on these three :-)

M (wwwgoodreadscomprofilem) | 337 comments Great posts and books recommendations, Sam:-) I will take the plunge with "Members Q&A" , "Books's reviews " from the recent polls as a part of "Education for Sustainable Development" online.
I'll report Denmark's ecotowns in a few hours.
Hope that a lot of members will take the plunge with us:-)

Sam (ecowitch) | 86 comments Hi Michelle, glad you like the next lot of book reads options :-) and I'm looking forward to your report on Denmark's ecotowns.

Have you decided which book your going to read or do you have to see what you can get hold of? I hope they do too :-D

M (wwwgoodreadscomprofilem) | 337 comments I hope they do too, Sam :-) We have to face a great challenge. That all the members from America, Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe, Russia with their own cultural habits and their cultural difference will be solidary to build our "green" future.

That "Education for Sustainable Development" will be a common goal. We have to learn, to innovate.....with experts and experience.

Well, It might be interesting to organize "The Green Group" in two parts. The first one for "The Book Club" , the second one for "Education of Sustainable Development" online. What do you say?
Take a look at the poll 2:-) The votes indicate that the members want to read "green books" to learn. But, there's a lot of ways to learn about environmental issues , specially online!

Sam (ecowitch) | 86 comments We've had another book suggestion for this genre from Gregoire with Deep Economy The Wealth of Communities and the Durable Future by Bill McKibben, so there's another option for all those who haven't chosen which book to read yet :-)
