WEEKLY CHECK-IN
March 12, 2025 -- Week 11

We're starting week eleven of our 2025 challenge! On our March mini, we have a prompt featuring the prettiest covers on our TBR. So, let's chat about cover designs. What designs or trends do you find irresistible?

(Full confession. Liz knows the trend of historical fiction with women facing away gets a lot of hate. But she can't resist them! They're clearly marketed for her. 😂)

What cover designs do you love best?

I like pretty fantasy covers best - warm colours, flowy shapes, lots of whimsy

Chain of Thorns (The Last Hours, #3) by Cassandra Clare A Magic Steeped in Poison (The Book of Tea, #1) by Judy I. Lin Deerskin by Robin McKinley The Starlight Heir by Amalie Howard The Wind Weaver (Reign of Remnants, #1) by Julie Johnson House of Blight (The Threadmender Chronicles, #1) by Maxym M. Martineau The Antlered King (The Raven's Trade, #2) by Marianne Gordon

Ashtyn | 42 comments I've really been enjoying the inclusion of embroidery on covers. It's simple on first glance, but gets more intricate the longer you look

Hester by Laurie Lico Albanese The Specimen by Jaima Fixsen

Kathi | 178 comments I really don’t pay much attention to the covers, but I did like the simplicity of some of the covers in Adrian Tchaikovsky’s Shadows of the Apt series.
Empire in Black and Gold (Shadows of the Apt, #1) by Adrian Tchaikovsky Dragonfly Falling (Shadows of the Apt, #2) by Adrian Tchaikovsky Blood of the Mantis (Shadows of the Apt, #3) by Adrian Tchaikovsky Salute the Dark (Shadows of the Apt, #4) by Adrian Tchaikovsky The Scarab Path (Shadows of the Apt, #5) by Adrian Tchaikovsky The Sea Watch (Shadows of the Apt, #6) by Adrian Tchaikovsky Heirs of the Blade (Shadows of the Apt, #7) by Adrian Tchaikovsky War Master's Gate (Shadows of the Apt #9) by Adrian Tchaikovsky The Air War (Shadows of the Apt #8) by Adrian Tchaikovsky Seal of the Worm (Shadows of the Apt, #10) by Adrian Tchaikovsky

Megan (booktraveller4life) | 183 comments I like pretty patterns. Or beautiful nature on covers. But I’m totally a judge a book by its cover

message 6: by Denise (new)

Denise | 566 comments I like water on the cover, especially beach scenes

Michele Olson | 536 comments Unless it's for a prompt, I don't really pay attention to the covers.

Haley I don't know what the style is called, but a lot of the Ali Hazelwood covers draw me, and others like them. It's a trend in contemporary romance.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood Bride (Bride, #1) by Ali Hazelwood Mr. Wrong Number (Mr. Wrong Number, #1) by Lynn Painter Planes, Trains, and All the Feels by Livy Hart Lucky Leap Day by Ann Marie Walker Go Hex Yourself (Hex, #1) by Jessica Clare My Killer Vacation by Tessa Bailey

MichaeleDigsFiction | 15 comments I'm not too particular in what I look for in a cover. As long as it looks good to me no matter what genre I will most likely read it because I am a COVER LOVER!
