depends a lot on the kind. i do not agree with the use of ai for creative things like art, music, or literature, since those hold so many deep, implied meanings that if it were created by an algorithm that does not feel, and simply generates through a system of tokens and prediction, then it would be the fakest, most emotionally devoid thing ever.

AI in no way is ethical. 1. AI systems use a ton of power, that power is utilized from these power plants that take A LOT of water to cool down. A hundred words from chat GPT uses an entire water bottle to cool down the system. AI is horrible for the environment.
2. Reliance on AI is lowering the intellect and effort of its' users. People who rely on AI in academic settings have a risk of not thinking on their own, which is a big risk for the future of humanity.
3. AI is inherently racist. When training a medical AI model, the scientists asked the AI to identify the gender of its subjects. The AI was more likely to misgender patients of color, and AI also does not represent minorities as much in its data base compared to the majority, which can pose a risk to any AGI development. Leading the inequality that AGI brings, National Library of Medicine States in 2023, “Facial recognition systems have also been shown to be more likely to misclassify gender in subjects who are darker-skinned.18 It has also been shown that populations who are subject to discrimination are under-represented in datasets underlying AI solutions and may thus be denied the full benefits of AI in healthcare.” This proves the valid concern of AGI being immoral and acting within the definition of inequality, which is the lack of equality.
4. AI steals from artists, and steals jobs without offering any redistribution for the displaced people. AI is especially feasting on the jobs of creatives, who often need to share their work online to make a living.
5. The development of AGI can lead to human extinction. The very nature of AGI could develop into situations where it makes choices for people; therefore undermining a human’s individual agency. As AGI continues to develop, it will make choices that will interfere with human autonomy. The New York Times states in 2023 that “Leaders from OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Anthropic and other AI labs warn that future systems could be as deadly as pandemics and nuclear weapons.” furthermore aiding the idea that the future of human autonomy is at risk, as said from AI labs. Allowing AGI to develop, we risk the loss of agency over the basic individual human control.
6. AI is able to create deep fakes which can sway political elections, putting a nation's future at risk. A quote from The National Library of Medicine on the 3rd of April 2023 also supports this claim. “When combined with the rapidly improving ability to distort or misrepresent reality with deepfakes, AI-driven information systems may further undermine democracy by causing a general breakdown in trust or by driving social division and conflict” and “evidence has shown how AI used at scale on social media platforms provides a potent tool for political candidates to manipulate their way into power.22 23 and it has indeed been used to manipulate political opinion and voter behaviour.24–26 Cases of AI-driven subversion of elections include the 2013 and 2017 Kenyan elections,27 the 2016 US presidential election and the 2017 French presidential election.28 29”

agreed! it's disturbing that people can now date a chatbot. again, the same issue of ai not feeling emotions. it's simply wrong

Okay, so AI can be helpful in manywaysand I personally am helping in coding of a particular software which uses AI. But s*x or n*de generating AIs should be banned. AI can be considered ethical as long as it's not used for wrong means.
AI will be misused because humans want power over other humans, and AI will provide that. There's no longer a debate about whether AI is ethical or should be developed further. Our government is full steam ahead because we have to beat China in this race. Debates about the dangers of AI are moot. How will AI affect us humans?
