Started...

To me,.the first 2 books of this series set the stage, and books 3-4 introduce you.to the villain, (view spoiler)... You don't see him often, but you feel his influence on events, directly and indirectly through agents, going forward...

Only 5hrs in so far out of 43hrs, hope to read most today...

It's weird how easily I mix up the Panion Seer and Silverfox, in my head, when I'm not reading these... there's just so many factions/titles, I guess...

I love the flat reveals in this one, for people that didn't catch the hints in previous books, and for people in-world (view spoiler)

Also, Ralph Lister is a great narrator... it's a shame he only does the first 3 books of this series, before being replaced by Michael Page...

I dunno if it's the narration, or what, but I find it impressive how engrossed I get in these books, despite the wordiness, especially on re-read, where I don't have to focus as hard to hold the ongoing narrative in my head... kinda gets to feel like Wandering Inn re-reads...

I love the surprising deep cut of (view spoiler)

Really feeds into my comments on how this is a world of characters, and also so many things are deeply connected in actions and consequences... and the 300,000+ year scope of it all...

Nirkatze | 21776 comments I read this over the weekend and holy crap it was awesome. Favorite so far--especially considering how hard it was to really get into book 1 and especially book 2--starting off book 3 with Ganoes and Tattersail and our favorite Bridgeburners, and really digging into (finally) some of the meat of what is going on here, big-picture-wise, was pretty damn awesome.

I'm pretty overworked and overwhelmed right now--just trying to get my foot in the door commenting-wise and planning to come back this weekend (3 day weekend yay!) and properly comment...

Man, I love Kruppe... I didn't really like him on first read of book 1/2, but getting to book 3, he's definitely nudging favorite...

MOI is simply a masterpiece. The re-read there are so many things where I said to myself holy crap that was hiding in plain site and if I just took it at face value it explains so much.

For me at worst a top 5 series moment (spoiler as it's been awhile and I don't remember in the book where it takes place (view spoiler)
