For this month, should it be fiction or nonfiction? If fiction is allowed, I would suggest the new release Wild Dark Shore, set on an island between Tasmanian and Antarctica. I suppose it might be called an eco-thriller, with penguins, seals, a seed bank, melting permafrost, and personal dramas. It’s by the author of Migrations, which I’m pretty sure I saw on your bookshelf.
Otherwise, I liked this non-fiction book: Hurricane Lizards and Plastic Squid: The Fraught and Fascinating Biology of Climate Change.

Hi Nancy. We typically only do fiction in April and October, so I will use your non-fiction suggestion this time.

Hi Sina,
The Sixth Extinction was our BOTM in August 2018, so I will not inlcude it in the poll.

I’d like to nominate Marina’s book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...Halcyon Journey: in Search of the Belted Kingfisher

Hmmm... 3 books seems a bit excessive for a BOTM selection. Which one would you have voted for, NancyJ?

I am now taking nominations for the May 2025 Book of the Month on this thread.
As a reminder, here are the rules:
- Please try to include a link to the book if you can
- Check the Previous BOTM list to ensure we haven't read it before (https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...)
- Limit your nomination to one book per month so everyone has an equal chance of winning
- Get your nomination in by Friday, April 4th - the poll will go up on Saturday, April 5th.
Thanks,
Becky
