Okieeee I’ve never watched a Thai drama before but I’d love to hear from y’all~~~

You can talk about any Thai dramas you’ve watched, your thoughts, any recs, etc!

Thanks to Mira again for the topic suggestion <3

Katie❄️ (theicequeen) | 428 comments Sssoooo My Love Mix-Up has a Thai version AND a Japanese version. I watched them episode against episode. I preferred the Japanese version.

~MasterDaoistQuqu~ | 259 comments Mod
Ohhh I think I've heard of the manga but I had no idea there would a Thai version too! I might try to read the manga since I think it sounds pretty interesting ^^ the ratings are pretty high too

Mira ♡(Hiatus (◕ᴗ◕✿) ♪♫) | 119 comments • My first Thai dramas was F4 Thailand... Kinda got a bit repetitive towards the end but it was a mood(especially the friends group).

• I also recommend Good Old Days. This felt very much like reading a japanese book where each chapter follows a different set of charecters but they're bound by a common theme or place (in this case an antique shop)

• If you're interested in thrillers and also stuff like occult, watch Enigma. This one is a bit shorter than I'd like but S2 is on the way, so...

Katie❄️ (theicequeen) | 428 comments I really liked the manga.

Thanks!
I’ll have to add those to my list.

Monique | 105 comments I've only watched two. First one was Manner of Death. It's a criminal series, it was alright, nothing special but the main couple was very cute. Then I also watched Pit Babe, because of course I needed to see how they managed to film omegaverse series 😆 can't wait for season 2

Mira ♡(Hiatus (◕ᴗ◕✿) ♪♫) | 119 comments I randomly remembered this Thai drama, I watched about a year ago. It's called My Precious and it's this old school drama about friendship, first love, change, growing up and other variables like luck and fate. I initially thought it would be like those high school romance dramas but no... it made me very nostalgic and I also cried at certain parts... Highly recommend ❤️

To be honest, you guys are definitely better than me in all aspects. I recently started watching Kdramas again. When I was 14 or 15, I watch 3 Kdramas and was in a slump till recently! All that matters is that we're all having fun. Also Ququ, you have watched bunch of cdramas...I'm yet to give them a go...so it's all balanced...neutral neutral !

Sollenbum | 301 comments Have now made it to episode 7 and now it gets juicy 🥰

By now the drama has established the main couple (prince / body guard), as well as a coupe with a dominant prince + his docile servant and a sweet prince with a commoner where romance seems to blossom.

The pacing is quite good in this drama. There are romantic bread crumbs along the way, but it is a quite a slow burn for a Thai drama that the big romantic scene between the main couple is at the end of episode 7.

They are releasing it one episode every Saturday, so there´s another seven weeks to go!

Hello fellow drama-lovers,

Is anyone watching "The Next Prince" (2025) with NuNew and
ZeePruk Panich?

Usually, Thai dramas are not something that I watch but I stumbled across this drama via YouTube trailers and discovered that it is being broadcast on iQiyi. When I say "being broadcast", I mean it literally. They are releasing one episode a week so only 5 episodes have dropped so far...

The drama is an oppulent BL drama that is set in a fictional kingdom which feels like a mixture of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. There are four families that are vying for power and a normal, young man is dropped into this court intrigue.

The main couple is this young, bubbly prince and his stoic bodyguard. Apparently, the actors are quite an item in the Thai entertainment industry and their chemistry is indeed remarkable.

The whole drama is a camp fairy tale with quite a helping of cheese to boot. It is a fun romp in a fictional world with only glimpses of real life drama. There is jeopardy for the young prince and his loyal guard, but there are also lots of romantic scenes that cover many of the most common tropes. There is even a princess-carry scene 🌸

This is not deep, but very sweet ❤️

I´m like you in that I tend to watch very few Thai dramas.

In general I find that they don´t shy back from skinship, especially in the kiss scenes. So far (up to and including episode 5) there has only been near-miss kiss scenes but this is a very slow burn drama so who knows what is in store ...

There are no major trigger warnings so far although there is a dog collar that is used to dominate in one of the side couples. The scene is in a car so its use is implied rather than shown. This same couple has a really unhealthy power dynamic and it is tangled up in feudal traditions. The weaker person is whipped by the stronger person´s father, because it is not possible to physically punish the prince hence his servant is whipped.

This might be the backdrop for a love triangle with another prince who might swoop in and save the servant later on ...

Agree with you! The drama has more character nuance than some Thai BL dramas that seem like little more than an excuse to see bedroom scenes and intense kissing.

I like the slow burn of this drama, because the chemistry between the main couple is that good.

"10Dance" drops on December 18 on Netflix, I think ... Are Japanese BL very explicit? Thai dramas sometimes go a little further than Japanese BLs, don´t they?

message 37: by Katie❄️ (new)

Katie❄️ (theicequeen) | 428 comments Most of the Thai ones I’ve seen are R or NC-17 but they all have different ratings than the US. So something that is R rated there is like Pg/pg-13 here depending on the themes.

Esther (eshchory) | 144 comments Sollenbum wrote: "Thai dramas sometimes go a little further.."

I'm a relative newcomer to CDramas and my first BL was Revenged Love.
The recent CBLs seem to be trying to find the sweet spot between pushing the envelope and getting banned/edited by the censor.

But from the few clips I have seen from Thai BLs there is no envelope, there is no censor! :0)

Esther (eshchory) | 144 comments Monique wrote: "I started Lover Merman and it is as cheesy as it looks like. But mermen shots in the water are stunning, so I'll probably finish it.

Mermen seem to be a trend.
I have seen clips from Chinese water-based amusement parks and the mermen NPCs are stunning but there is also a merman vertical Cdrama starring some of the cutest actors and none of them look really good as mermen.
Are the shots in the water stunning only because of the photography or do the mermen look good too?

Monique wrote: "so I'll probably finish it. And since it's quite short :)"

One of the advantages of BL dramas - not too many episodes.
I binged 'My Stubborn' over the weekend, though finishing it did entail staying up a little too late.

Now I am returning to my Cdrama 'The Untamed'. It is really good but 50 episodes requires pacing.

There was actually just one scene of them under water, so hard to say for the whole thing, but I really liked how tails and fins looked like (is there some other words for merfolk anatomy? 😅) Also, the movement of swimming was very well done in my opinion. But I don't think they will spend much time under water because they seem just like regular humans who need to get under water every month to get rid of that "mermen itch" and then they are fine again. At least that's how I understood.

My problem with such lengthy dramas, especially when the episodes are about an hour long, is that with my commute I have a long working day and by the time I get home, do chores, eat I can maybe fit in one episode before I start to doze.
Dammit! I want to binge this drama but the reality is that it will take me at least a month to watch it.
