Sam’s first reaction was to assure Nick that she was all in, despite her fears and reservations about her own job. Your thoughts about how she handled herself? Supported Nick?

It was so sad that it was something Nick was concerned about. Sam did everything she was supposed to do, but her inner dialogue showed a lot of turmoil about what had happened, very much Sam concerned with matters that affected Sam. She did her best to support Nick, even with the turmoil and questions she had about what was happening.

It’s always bothered me that most of Nick’s reluctance about the office is because of the impact on Sam’s career. I was glad that in this moment she thought first about his state of mind. It was a rare moment.

It was almost like she was responding to the situation the way Nick wanted her to respond. You are right about Nick's reluctance being all about Sam. It is sad that the greatest event of his life is tempered by his concern that Sam isn't happy.
