I just wrote my review on Fourth Wing and the TLDR is it's a no for me, which is a shame because I wanted to love it.
Fourth wing was the second fantasy book I’ve ever read and it was the best book. I have never recovered though with Liam, I'm still heartbroken!!!
Absolutely worth the read I loved the slow burn. Xaden could just be standing and I would be screaming internally. And violet or violence(may I say😉) was freaking badass women I loved the way her character developed through the challenges. I hate dain with everything in me. And the dragons in this books are soooooooooo good. Whatever I like in a book is there... enemies to lovers? Yes! Misunderstood arrogant shadowy main lead? Yes!! Strong female lead? Yup! The slow I want you but can't have you moments? Hell yes!! Plot twist? Yes darling the last page ;) and did I cried? Yes (liam is freaking loved him)

Fourth Wing is bad, the sequels manage to get even worse somehow. The general discussion around it reminds me of the emperor's new clothes where everyone plays pretend, while a big heap of sh*t sits in broad daylight for everyone to see
This was one of the best books I have read in a long time after ACOTAR. The romance and suspense of the build up is unmatched !!

I like how it ends just after a battle of a war each time. I can see where Bad kicker is coming from. If you ignore the stories progression and look at it as outline of events it does get a bit repetitive. There is a pattern, However, Rebecca Yarros clearly is committed to her world and characters. So, it doesn't seem as obvious and the different POV's help. I just hope the series concludes in a positive way and I am guessing here but I think Violet will get pregnant and have a child or children that will hopefully *Spoiler alert save the day.

Yh I do agree though I think if you look at it from a literary standpoint, its not exactly peak fiction. Im not an avid reader but have picked up more books because of how entertaining i find books like fourth wing. The tropes are so fun and as much as people will diss characters like violet and the dialogue, you really do fall in love with some of the characters. That being said, the later books havent been amazing to me bc of what you say - got repetitive, and i feel the story progression slowed in iron flame.
I didn't like it at all, it was one of the first books I read and I thought it was good until I read more books and realized how bad the writing is and it just became one of the books that I don't like
Fourth wing is one of the books that instantly drags you into that world instantly . Best fantasy book I have read so far . I am not a spice reader so I had to skip the 2 intense parts but that is fine. I just finished the book and I may be starting Iron flame very soon .
I live for this book! I have an “It’s Been My Honor” poster on my wall😭I loved Liam. And Sloan. And Ridoc.
I have read so many different genres and fantasy pieces as well as currently studying English Literature. The storyline matters and let me just say this is an extremely complex story line and I found myself looking back to previous pages to see what was going on in the book. I absolutely loved this book with everything in me.
This felt like only the beginning—every book ends in a way that leaves you stunned, wondering, ‘What just happened?
Fourth Wing made me wonder if something is honestly wrong with me. I disliked it from the very beginning and could not find anything worth my while in it. It might not have helped that I listened to the audio book and that I really dislike Yarros' writing style. I became such a vivid hater for this and it makes me sad. I wanted to love it. I love dragons, high fantasy and everything romance. But this just irked me so much.
I found a quote saying: "Fourh Wing is for all the girls that skipped the Wattpad phase."
I'm happy for everyone who genuinely loves this series (how?), but I simply can't. It's just not good. It reminds me of when I was 14 and inhaled Twilight and swore it was the best thing.
Just finished reading it for the third time! I looooved it, especially the first half of the book. Okay, let’s talk about the world building? WHAT WAS THAT, omg is like, perfect, is very original and well described, as well as Bastiagh whole everything-WILL-kill-you vibes, that is a little forced? yes but very cool? yes! Also Violet was like, sometimes a little bit childish but in general I liked her a lot bc everyone expected her to die and then she bonds with TWO dragons.
Also, her relationship with Tairn and Andarna is sooo cute, like, the mind link thing and the over protective father relationship, is just awwww
Just one thing I didn’t like was the romance, like, I love Violet and Xaden, they’re perfect together, but they were enemies for what, 6 pages, and the part where he says “no falling in love” and then they separate but Violet keeps insisting on that like a child, no, just no sorry, I felt SO many second hand embarrassment 😭, but they’ re cute together with that whole thing of “she’s the light in his dark soul” idk.
Sorry for the long comment, I just didn’t have anyone else to talk about it!
