P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1760 comments I've given up. I keep trying to use Goodreads.
BUT
The books I read are hard to find and place.
I leave polite requests to the librarians to get covers changes and new updated blurbs added, to get nice reviews highlighted or rearrange things. Hah! NO replies and no action.
I am not allowed to change things on my own author site and so readers don't get the updated stuff or the new stuff correctly.
Why bother here when readers can’t get the correct information? And there other outlets where readers can reach me and I can have fun chatting with them.

Sorry to hear that P.D.R. It's a shame Amazon bought it, no doubt to garner all the useful info the site holds, but feels no need to invest in it. It annoying that billionaire Jeff Bezos uses the goodness and time of voluntary librarians to keep it up to date because he's too cheap to put any money into it.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 220 comments Since Goodreads stopped sending email alerts to its members, I have found it too difficult to monitor if I should be, or would like to, read posts. Other authors and readers are saying the same thing and I think Goodreads is, regrettably, making a big mistake and falling into decline. But are they listening?

Amazon have invested some money in it, but they aren't interested in the social side & don't seem to realise that when readers talk about books, they find more books they would like to read & then buy them. The latest casualty it that comments are now disabled on the editorial posts.

The whole message now is, "Shut up & buy our books."

I only received email notifications for one group, so it doesn't make much difference to me. But with one exception, all the groups I belong to are less active than they were. That includes the Librarians Group.
