Oh man! Another wonderful episode! And to be honest, I’m never thought we’d get (view spoiler)[a sequel to Midnight (hide spoiler)]!

Creepy. Unsettling. Deliciously Doctor Who. Make sure you’ve got something to hide behind … oh wait 🙀
Omg, I’m just completely gutted after watching that episode. I never thought I’d want a sequel to the original episode (thought it was perfectly done, no need to answer questions), but RTD outdid himself this time. Just wow.
Good solid base under siege, plus RTD did a sequel to an episode that I'm sure was on everyone's 'They are never gonna do a sequel to that one' list.He had alittle trouble juggling the details, and I can forgive that.
I am, unfortunately, finding that not only do I really not care about the season arc, but I get irritated whenever RTD feels the need to remind us.

Travis wrote: "I am, unfortunately, finding that not only do I really not care about the season arc, but I get irritated whenever RTD feels the need to remind us..."I’m not one to go down the rabbit hole on mystery boxes and fan theories (I did that with Lost when it was airing, and I’m never doing THAT again!), but it doesn’t terribly bother me too much since it feels like there is a plan for the season. But I’m not going to invest any time in theorizing what is going on. There are too many other things I’d rather be doing. I just wish these series arcs/mysteries were more intriguing. Maybe then I’d actually care about them.
With Lux, you can mostly ignore the arc stuff, but with Well, it's part of the plot and pushed forward more and so the stumbles become obvious.the finale might be brilliant and I will forgive all.
But, then I remember how last season turned out...
Earth was wiped out in 2024 but everyone understands american sign language...?Can the Tardis translate sign language?
Are we finding that out 60 years in?
Are you sure that was ASL. Maybe it was British Sign Language. And as I keep pointing out: we are firmly in a post sci-fi version of Doctor Who. It’s magic baby. It’s all fantasy now. The TARDIS can translate anything now, and even during Matt Smith’s run we saw Amy read her daughter’s name in embroidery while it was being translated. So why not Sign Language?
And personally, I prefer the “make it up as we go” way of approaching the series. Just as it was done in the Hartnell and Troughton eras, as well as in the Eccelston season (aka Post Time War).

BSL, not ASL. Ncuti Gatwa made an effort to learn the language even while they were filming the story. The TARDIS has always been able to translate languages, with the exception of the one in The Satan Pit.
I enjoyed the story, in spite of the fact that I really don't like Midnight.

Yeah, if the Earth was wiped out in 2025, no one in the future would be using ASL or BSL. I guess it’s another version of sign language invented later?
I believe they used sign language in Under the Lake/Before the Flood, but did the TARDIS translate that? I don’t remember. It didn’t translate the Fisher King’s message on the spacecraft.
My other thought was could the creature from 'Midnight' be connected to the creature from 'Planet of evil'?

Elizabeth wrote: "… I believe they used sign language in Under the Lake/Before the Flood, but did the TARDIS translate that? I don’t remember. Chalk that up to the same perspective as “may not take you where you want to go, but takes you where you need to go” kind of thing.
Travis wrote: "My other thought was could the creature from 'Midnight' be connected to the creature from 'Planet of evil'?"Wasn’t that one that Prentis Hancock was in? Nice guy. Met him at a Space 1999 convention in the late 70s, probably not long after he filmed The Ribos Operation.

In it the 4th and Sarah Jane go to the edge of the universe, where a research ship has collected some kind of anti-matter and caught the attention of something from beyond that is just a vague energy form that can possess people...sound familiar to anyone?
I mean, if we can bring back Sutekh and the Toymaker...

My favorite too, but I prefer Turn Left. :0)

Yea, another great one. I think I enjoy Silence in the Library / Forest of the Dead the most from that season, but I’m also quite fond of Partners in Crime and The Stolen Earth / Journey’s End. Really the whole season is filled with many of my favorite episodes, in no small part because of the Tennant and Tate chemistry.

The whole season is great, which is why I liked that RTD went back and healed the wound from the end of that series. Midnight on its own drives me up the wall.

I don't hate Midnight, but I never saw it more than a cute little experiment. It was interesting, but forgettable.
Now, with Well, there's a built up mythology and I'd actually like to see if RTD can do more with the creature.
So, if Mrs. Flood is now doing the Susan Twist shtick of showing up everywhere, does that mean she's also a harbinger or is RTD tripping over his own cleverness again...?
Travis wrote: "So, if Mrs. Flood is now doing the Susan Twist shtick of showing up everywhere, does that mean she's also a harbinger or is RTD tripping over his own cleverness again...?"Are those mutually exclusive? Because it would not surprise me if both were true. 😂
