Think Lone Woman, Red Rabbit, The Night Silver River Runs Red. I need something different, rugged, and with cowboys and crime.

Blood Meridian, or, the Evening Redness in the West by Cormac McCarthy. Not genre horror, but horror all the same, and as grueling a read as I've come across.
wanted to add The Crossings by Jack Ketchum. It's pretty short and not necessarily that big on the horror side, but it does have some gruesome bits and a compelling plot.
Haven't read it yet, just heard about it and bought it: The Country Under Heaven by Frederic S. Durbin.
ah, also! Just found A Savage Breed by Patrick Harrison III. Haven't read it but I might soon enough, it sounds interesting, is fairly short, says it's splatterpunk, and it has fairly decent to good ratings here in GR, so I can maybe come back after I've read it to make further comment?
