The Sword and Laser discussion

So far this book doesn't have as many (and as overt) pop culture references as Valerie Valdes' Chilling Effect series, but something like a couple hours into the audiobook there's been 2 references to The Princess Bride. (One very overt, one kind of subtle). (view spoiler)[The overt one is the "he doesn't die in this scene" like the grandpa tells Fred Savage in the movie of Princess Bride. The subtle one is his rock/paper/scissors with himself earlier when it seems like the Vizzini/Man in Black scene (hide spoiler)]

Created the thread for folks to point out any others they've found. I recommend the reference in the clear and the actual scene for the book in spoilers as I did here.

Bonus: Did it bother you or did you find it funny? (or some other reaction) Given Mickey's hobby and the fact that it's set in our future, it made me chuckle and didn't bother me.

I wasn't picking up many until about half-way through Mickey (view spoiler)[ goes to the medic after collapsing on a mission. The doc is worried about cancer until Micky reminds him that he's only a few days old, much faster than a tumor can grow. The doctor finally concedes, (hide spoiler)] "It's not a tumor." I assume this was entirely intentional because the narrator reads the doctor with an Austrian accent.
