I didn't write much of a review, but while reading this book, I came across a reference to it in another WWII history book I was reading in parallel and captured that tidbit of history in my write-up.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I really enjoyed this. WWI is not my go-to history, but I was familiar with this story and glad this group provided an opportunity to finally take it off my TBR list. I don't have my thoughts in order yet around what I just experienced, but hoping to follow up in a couple days with some insights about the characters and events.
The struggle of war is real. This depiction from the side we usually think of as the enemy was masterfully done. The narrator of the story really makes you feel and understand the emotions from that side of the line. While this is not my typical type of story, I'm glad I took the opportunity to listen to it.

What did you love (or not love) about the book? Did anything surprise you? How did you feel about the characters, themes, or ending?
Feel free to dive into spoilers, but remember to use the spoiler function for major plot points.
Looking forward to hearing everyone’s perspectives!
