LJF | 127 comments I love the high seas/sailing ships/ocean adventure aesthetic, but I've never been into the romanticization of pirates, so I'd love to see more stories focusing on, like, merchant adventurers and such, rather than pirates or privateers. The only series I can really think of that fits into this niche is Micheline Ryckman's The Maiden Ship, but I'm sure there must be more. (It's fine if the story happens to include pirates, I just want the focus to be on main characters who are not.)

Len | 145 comments Cyril Abraham's series about the Onedin Line. The building of a 19th century shipping company, based around the BBC TV series.
The Shipmaster
The Iron Ships
The High Seas
The Trade Winds
The White Ships
Cyril Abraham's The Onedin Line: The Turning Tide

And two books for YA readers:
Clipper Ship - Stowaway on a clipper ship bound for Australia
All Sail Set: A Romance of the Flying Cloud - Voyage on an American clipper ship
