For our group reads for - June - we have chosen two books each with the theme - First month of winter where snowbirds flock to Port Douglas & the Whitsundays - BIRDS on cover - therefore members will have four to choose from when you vote in the poll. (Once again, all Aussie authors)

Our choices are:

The Lost Blackbird by Liza Perrat The Lost Blackbird by Liza Perrat

London 1962. A strict and loveless English children’s home, or the promise of Australian sunshine, sandy beaches and eating fruit straight from the tree. Which would you choose?

Ten-year-old Lucy Rivers and her five-year-old sister Charly are thrilled when a child migrant scheme offers them the chance to escape their miserable past.

But on arrival in Sydney, the girls discover their fantasy future is more nightmare than dream.

Wings Above the Mallee by Leonie Kelsall Wings Above the Mallee by Leonie Kelsall

Forced away from the Outback she both loves and loathes, bush pilot Amelia Fraser has lost everything - except her compassion. Running from tragedy, she finds herself in Settlers Bridge, determined to never let anyone get close to her again ... because accepting love might mean she is ready to replace her memories. And she'll never let that happen.

Birds in Flight by Anni Taylor Birds in Flight by Anni Taylor

Two estranged sisters reunite to solve the harrowing mystery of their missing mother.

In 1998, the American Jorgenson family had been on a year-long road trip in Australia. One humid, storming night, the mother - Elsa Jorgenson - vanished in an isolated stretch of Australian everglades. Elsa was never seen again.

That night, twelve-year-old Lily Jorgenson was left alone and terrified in the family camper—even her teenage sister Iris is missing. When Iris comes racing back through the rain, she refuses to tell where she’s been. Lily is certain her sister is hiding a dark secret.

Bye Bye Baby (DCI Jack Hawksworth #1) by Fiona McIntosh Bye Bye Baby by Fiona McIntosh

It all began in Brighton. Now there is a killer on the loose. Scotland Yard′s brightest talent is chosen to head up the high-profile taskforce, a DCI who must confront his own past as the body count rises.

There are few leads and Jack Hawksworth can only fall back on instinct and decades-old cold cases for any clue to the killer′s motive ... and identity.

With his most loyal team member threatening to betray him, a Chief Inspector pushing for results, a hungry British media clamouring for information, and a restless public eager for a conviction, the high-pressure operation can only end in a final shocking confrontation ...
