This is the Feminism topic. Here, we are focusing on helping everyone understand
what Feminism really is and how it impacts the world.

Feminism has many definitions depending on who you ask. Some see it as radical misandry or hating men, some see it as a powerful movement. It varies depending on who you’re asking, but at its core, it is the belief in the social, economic, and political equality of the sexes. No one should be refused certain rights, such as the right to vote, to hold political office, and to work outside the home, because of their sex or gender. Feminism goes beyond basic rights, however, and seeks deeper cultural shifts like an end to sexism and intersectional oppression based on gender, race, sexuality, and class.

Despite what some may think and claim, feminism is not the belief that women are better than men. It is a social and political movement advocating for equal rights for all. Equality does not mean less for men, it means that women are afforded the same opportunities, rights, and treatment and rights that men are granted at birth.

Feminism is not a new movement, and has already done a lot of good across the globe. Women didn’t gain the right to vote in the US until 1920, and that Constitutional amendment was passed thanks to feminist activists. The next wave of feminism pushed for equal pay, legal equality, and reproductive freedom in the 60s and 70s, leading to Roe vs. Wade in 1973 (which was overturned in 2022, a massive step back for women and reproductive rights).

i like torturing myself by watching those athiests vs christians, feminists vs anti feminists, is blm a necessary movement etc, and one thing that tends to get brought up a lot is 'men's rights'. what is men's rights, what rights are you trying to claim, what rights are you lacking? i just don't understand this concept at all

message 3: by [deleted user] (last edited Sep 15, 2025 09:40AM) (new)

there's no concept to understand, so you're good anyways. men have every right imaginable just by merely existing. they claim that their rights are being attacked because equality and privilege being rightfully divided between both genders begins to feel like oppression to them. much like making up the term "misandry," it's just their way of trying to claim power back, a way to make themselves to feel better about the patriarchy.

no but seriously, how are women different to men except sexually? we’re even more mature than them - shown scientifically
in ancient times, we had a matriarchal society and often women are more competent than men, but we just get tread on all the time, or at least until feminism was brought to many people’s attention
I don’t like the idea of forcing women into the spotlight either just to promote ‘gender equality’ and that might be an unpopular opinion, but if a tv show has 2 male hosts, so what? can’t they just do their job? it isn’t necessary to have a female host - it would be nice, yes, but it isn’t necessary. i don’t get why people believe that it’s truly necessary

i think gender concepts don't fucking matter unless you ask a misogynistic man. women should be welcome anywhere they want to be, so should men. if it works out that men are hosting something or women are hosting something, whatever situation, let that be because of the person not their gender.

exactly
like why must you have a woman hosting? it truly isn’t necessary

I kinda agree with this.
Feminism isn’t about women having more rights it’s about equal rights.
But to have equality, we need equality on both ends.
Another difference between men’s and women’s rights is that women are oppressed by men. Men are also oppressed by men. If men are the oppressors and the victims, they have to change for society to change. Because in all honesty men’s rights aren’t about human rights they are about societal and social rights.

so agree with the men are oppressed by men 👏 clock it because all these 'societal roles' they're complaining about are more often than not, created, enforced and sustained by themselves

Women are in fact quite different to men, we are more emotionally, cognitively, and somewhat physically evolved. Women being the ones to have birth have a higher stamina and higher pain tolerance on average than men do. Women also have higher levels of thinking due to being put under high level of stress and responsibility at a young age. We mature faster because we were forced to. Women also have on average higher EQ levels which make them better leaders, better at communication and sympathy. They are also less drastic and less quick to anger.
The only thing men have on women is their muscle mass and growth, which isn’t extremely useful in our machine based systems today.
Years ago, men used to be use for their strength in protection and gardening and sometimes hunting. Women were in charge of everything else, including finances and family and social dynamics between not only their tribes but with other tribes or groups.

True but it isn’t something we can ignore.

YES CLOCK IT 🤌🤌🤌

like, if anyone was trying to say women should have equal rights to men, I would be against that, but you're right, any men being oppressed, it's BY MEN. (now "good boy" by Paris paloma is in my head lol)

most of this has been fairly opinion-based, but this feels concrete enough that i would like to see a reputable source backing up your claim. it makes every claim you have made stronger if you have legitimate sources backing you up
