This is the LGBTQ+ topic. Here, we are focusing on explaining what this is and how
being part of this group of people affects the world.

The LGBTQ+ community are a group of persons in any country, region, or locality who identify as lesbian, gay (in the narrow sense of being a male who is sexually or romantically attracted to other males), bisexual, transgender, or queer in any other way. Since the early 21st century, LGBTQ communities have been understood to encompass a variety of sexual orientations and identities beyond those directly referred to in the acronym LGBTQ—among them, for example, “questioning,” “intersex,” and “agender”—and for that reason the acronym is often expanded in corresponding ways, as in LGBTQIA, or is rendered more simply as LGBTQ+.

Members of LGBTQ communities typically feel some degree of empathy and solidarity with each other based on their shared experience of prejudice, discrimination, and disrespect. Their sense of community is also informed by their awareness of the historical and contemporary oppression of LGBTQ persons.

There are a lot of laws and policies in the US that are harmful to LGBTQ+ people, surrounding education, healthcare, marriage rights (which are potentially going to be up for debate in the Supreme Court again), relationship and parental recognition, nondiscrimination, religious exemptions, LGBTQ youth, criminal justice, and identity documents. The first image shows states that have pro- and anti- LGBTQ+ laws and policies. Additionally, we would like to include another map for you to look at, showing the education level of each individual state. You can draw your own conclusions there.

fun fact! originally, the queer community were referred to as 'glbt', however, during the aids outbreak, many people believed that gay men, were the contagious cause of aids, and refused to go near them. during this time, lesbian women treated and took care of the gay men when no one else would, as well as stepping up and advocating for the maltreatment of the community as a whole, and out of respect and admiration for their acts, it was renamed to 'lgbt', with lesbians at the front, to honor their contributions

Tessie | 100 comments Ooh lgbtq fun facts-
There was a Mexican colonel in the army, his name was Amelio Robles Ávila, and he lived in the early 1900s.
He was a trans man, and he threatened to shoot anyone who called him by his deadname. He lived openly as a trans man for 71 years and was supported by his friends, family, and government.

*cough* not to make this political but now the ‘free country’ of America won’t even let trans people be in the army *more coughing* and the Mexican government was more supportive a hundred years ago of trans people than we are today
