regarding the death of charlie kirk, i want to add that tyler robinson is the alleged assassin of charlie kirk as declared by the utah governer, there has been no official confession by robinson himself and neither has he been found guilty in the court of law yet

very true, thank you for that. it is important to uphold innocent until proven guilty, and that was a pretty major oversight on our part

here are some modern news updates if anyone finds these interesting!

first federal rate cut of the year 🥳🥳 prompted by the labor market (rip employment), the fed cut rates by a quarter point, voted on by the federal reserve with an almost unanimous result of 11-1 (stephen miran, trump apointee only sworn in moments before the vote was the single outlier, voted for .5) and two more to come by december. next year though the fed says they're only planning on having one, which is a bit scary, but they did say we were only going to get two this year and changed it to three so who's to say for sure
i want to circle back to the fact that this rate cut was caused mainly because of the labor market, september has historically never been a very good month for any markets, but this year we're seeing a huge cut back in employment opportunities by the us government (over 800,000 jobs), while the goal of this was initially to encourage employers to hire less immigrants, it actually affects everyone in the job market as the majority employers are looking for the most qualified candidates rather than hiring off of nationality. the people hardest hit by this are blue collar workers, minorities, and newly graduated college students entering the workspace—only to find that it's a lot more of an employer's market than an employee's

guys if you couldn't tell i'm more of an economics person...but that also means i'm always the last person to hear about social issues bc tell me why i lowkey did not know charlie kirk died until someone brought it up while we were discussing oracle stock

at the moment i do get the majority of my news from the morning brew so quite a few (but not all) of the links are also linked by them. i really recommend checking them out, they have a way of writing that leans towards casual and throwing in jokes while still being informative, when i first got into markets and economics i had a difficult time picking up vocab and lingo and the morning brew really kind of dumbed it down and explain it to me, and they cite multiple sources for whatever they're talking about.

the market has a mixed reaction after the federal rate cut, with some index funds rising and others dropping for what jerome powell, fed president calls a 'risk management cut' - https://finance.yahoo.com/news/live/s...
the jimmy kimmel show cut from abc after kimmel's remarks on charlie kirk as well as donald trump and maga's reaction to it. almost reminds me of the late night show with steven colbert being canceled 'for financial reasons' except it happened right after colbert objected to paramount global's deal with potus trump. but don't worry, colbert will still be sticking around for a while, till may of 2026...kimmel not so much, being given an indefinite suspension by abc - https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/nexs..., https://www.usatoday.com/story/entert..., https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/..., https://www.cnn.com/business/live-new...
nvidia is not doing so well in china after beijing tells chinese tech companies to stop buying their ai chips, about 13% of nvidia's revenue comes from china, and nvidia stock dropped about 3% yesterday . call me a conspiracy theorist but is it maybe a way to get the world off of donald trump and xi xin ping's backs after rumors of china and us becoming a liiiitle bit too close with their new tarrif and tiktok deals? - https://www.ft.com/content/12adf92d-3..., https://www.wsj.com/tech/ai/china-nvi..., https://www.cnbc.com/2025/09/18/huawe...

in other news, london fashion week started today, jerry is leaving tom and jerry's (after political drama gasp), meta released new ai glasses, goldman sachs us chief equity strategist retires at the end of the year, ai stocks are going insane (we recently saw oracle ceo larry elison become the richest man in the world for a hot second because of it) and stubhub's trading debut was disappointing to say the least

if this guy doesn't win i'll crash out. this is the kind of person i want to see running our country, if you hadn't heard of him i recommend checking him out, he's very intelligent, proactive and young (!!), an icon overall. never bought much into the new york dream beyond wall street, but if he was mayor? hell yeah

hello and happy saturday - sunday for losers on the eastern side of the country. closer the white house and for what. today was batman day, as well as national dance day, so i hope you all were performing interpretive bat-dances. bruce wayne would be proud.
now today's news is not the happiest and honestly had me questioning some things about the american administration but oh well i guess we just deal with it (?)
to start off strong, us president donald trump suggests delicensing media that criticize him. first amendment who? as reported by the morning brew, this comes after former host jimmy kimmel speaks out against trump, maga, and the response to the death of charlie kirk, "Kimmel accused Trump’s allies of “desperately trying” to portray the suspect in Kirk’s killing “as anything other than one of them.” (SK), the potus is also trying to cancel the shows of jimmy fallon, and seth myers. - https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articl..., https://www.usatoday.com/story/entert..., https://www.usatoday.com/story/entert..., https://www.cnn.com/2025/09/19/politi...

trump continues to ask scotus to fire fed governer lisa cook. i'll talk more about this the day something actually fucking happens, but to summarize, trump tried to fire cook, cook appealed, trump tried to fire her again to no avail, trump her her replacement, trump tried to fire her yet again. whew. but at least her right for due process is being held up, that's one constitutional right we haven't lost just yet - https://apnews.com/article/supreme-co...

senate fails to pass a bill to...fund the government? with the government at risk of facing a shutdown without more funding, a bill to fund the government till november 21st was passed in republican-majority house, but shot down in the senate, with democrats refusing to vote for it "demanding restoration of Medicaid support and action to extend subsidies under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) that are set to expire at the end of the year" (The Hill). democrats did try to pass a bill to keep the government running till october 31st but that was also shot down. economists expect health insurance prices to jump if republicans refuse to extend health insurance subsidaries under the affordable care act set to expire by the end of the year, and lovely little 930 billion dollars cut back in july as written in the 'One Big Beautiful Bull Act' signed by trump is probably no help either. - https://thehill.com/homenews/house/55..., https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5...

onto your weekend formula 1 snapshots. you thought you could stop a bad bitch from yapping about f1? you thought wrong. if you tell me to stop f1 that means no more news updates for you guys do it yourself. however because i know not everyone cares about it, i am putting it in spoilers.

this is super old that i never posted, about two weeks ago and i never caught up LOL, so there might be some unfinished and not up to date news, i'll be skipping a lot of the news from the past week because i fear i cannot catch up writing on all that, but i figure you i might as well post this since i had it drafted anyway -
to get started let’s start off with the memorial for charlie kirk. for anyone who’s been living under a rock btw, charlie kirk was a famous conservative spokesperson who was assassinated two weeks ago at a rally. kirk was known for his conservative (protestant/evangelical presbyterian) christian beliefs. due to his controversial beliefs, his death has caused quite a stir in more ways than one, and one of these is the memorial held for him at state farm stadium in arizona on September 21st
this memorial drew thousands of people, include many white house officials including potus donald trump and vice president jd vance, as well as kirk’s wife, erika kirk, who gave a speech approximately a half an hour long, in which she discussed taking over his spot as ceo of turning point usa, and stating that she forgives the killer of charlie kirk because “it was what christ did and is what charlie would do”
a person who was called out for their attitude on following the death of kirk was none other than donald trump, and i'd like to first point out when a reporter asked how trump was holding up following the death of kirk, to which trump responded ‘very good’ and redirected the conversation to construction of a new ballroom addition to the white house
the second thing i would like to point it is in an interview with fox news reporter, he discussed his thoughts on free speech, when the reporter quoted charlie kirk claiming on twitter that were was no such thing as ‘hate speech’ to which trump responded ‘well he might not be saying that now’
moving off of charlie kirk, this past week has been a busy week for the united nations. on september 18th, the un security council called for a permanent ceasefire in gaza, and out of the 15 nations who voted, 14 voted for a ceasefire, but the US use their permanent position on the security council to veto it, marking the 6th time that the US has vetoed a ceasefire in gaza since october of 2023
september 22nd officially kicked off the un high level week, marking the 80th anniversary of the un. as of today, palestine is recognized as a sovereign state by 157 out the 193 countries in the un.
jimmy kimmel live has been returned to air on abc after disney lost thousands of subscribers over night, the company said that it had pulled it off because they felt ‘the comments were ill-timed and this insensitive’. president trump praised disney’s choice to remove it from air, but they received a lot of backlash from democrats, even some republicans
nvidia to invest $100 billion in openai in return for data structures that assures that nvidia is a ‘repferred’ supplier for openai’s chips, this happens not so long after nvidia invests in rival company intel
google is headed back to court for another United States v. Google LLC, where they will once again be tried for a monopolizing the advertising industry. the last time google was brought to court was in january of 2023 where they were also accused of becoming a monopoly in advertisements. in the meantime i personally will be rethinking my whole life because how has it already been almost two years since that last case, i swear it wasn’t that long ago.
other things going on:
- fat bear week has started so make sure to vote before september 30th!
- the fed releases the personal consumption expenditures price index tomorrow
- the trump administration reportedly plans to link pregnant women using tylenol with autism
- rumors suggest netflix may consider entering a bid for warner bros againsy paramount skydance
- scotus will discuss the president’s ability to fire independent agency officials
- argentina, the second largest economy in the americas seems to be in a bit of a financial struggle, us treasury secretary scott bessent promises to support the argentinian president avoid an economic crisis
- starbucks becomes a partner to LA28 olympics
- jim beam becomes the official spirits partner of the cadillac f1 team set to make their debut as the 11th team on the grid next year

kirk wasn't catholic, he was protestent, and from what I gather after a search, was an evangelical presbyterian.

if you're want any updates on specific things let me know, also i just want to add quickly that the us is supporting argentina, by promising 20 billion to their far right government

my inbox is flooded bro part of the reason i stopped was because i genuinely couldn't keep up writing everything 😭 like every day i wake up check my phone and at this point i shouldn't even be surprised anymore but here i am

i want to write an update on the government shutdown because that's such a big thing right now but oh my god there's so much

if this is what you mean, thousands of workers have been furloughed because of the government shutdown
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/tho...
but also rfk (trump appointed secretary of health and human services) is saying a lot of very untrue things and changing around who is in charge, leading to protests and quitting in the cdc. so that is kind of a mess
https://www.axios.com/2025/08/28/cdc-...

oh boy did that take me a while to write at this point shutdown doesn't even look like a word to me. if i have any spelling mistakes or god forbid capital letters blame that on autocorrect, it's late and i'm really tired so i just wanted to wrap it up
