This novel is set in 1948 Atlanta, addresses the lives and challenges faced by the fist black officers of the Atlanta Police Department.

I read this a few years ago so won’t reread but it’s an engaging crime novel. I would recommend.

I've read it before as well but I'm going to listen to the audio version as there is now a third book out in the series and I need a refresher.

I'm about 50 pages in, and it's just beginning to go through the gears. I'm really enjoying it. I'm learning a whole load about Atlanta.

♥ Sandi ❣ | 293 comments I have all three of this series on my Fire. I have been in a reading slump for about a full month now, but hoping to work this book in during the month.

It's a shame you've had a reading slump, Sandi. That happened to me a couple of months ago and it was rubbish. But when it passes, and hopefully it has, it's ace. Darktown is a great book, one to look forward to.

Sam | 195 comments I am at the halfway point and felt this book was the perfect summer read for me so far. I usually prefer this genre of book as film or television rather than print, but Thomas Mullins has made the book very engaging, and the history of racial integration of the police is eye opening.

message 10: by Lexy (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lexy | 176 comments Yes, the treatment of the black officers was eye opening & horrendous. Sad.
