I have started this and am about 1/3 in. After the queer boy horror of Don't Let the Forest In I wanted a strong girl. It’s pretty melancholy, but I really like June and I enjoy seeing the evolution of her and her family’s attitudes, but oy, the AIDS and the homophobia
Loved the postcards and the whole growing relationship with Toby. It’s interesting to think about how both Finn and Toby are safe spaces for adolescent desire for June.
Oh my! Greta in the forest is so sad! And poor Toby. This book is pretty good. Why didn’t I choose more happy stuff?
I think the nature of YA is angsty in general. All of them had a bit of it. I'm reading this one starting this weekend
I just couldn't get into this one. I've been in a bit of a slump and nothing was good. It's probably just me, so I'm out on this.
65%. This is a sad book. I’m not sure what’s going on with Greta. Toby is such a pitiful character and June’s mother has let her jealousy destroy her relationships. She may be the saddest character of them all.
