Something is spreading. And it’s not just the virus.

Across the globe, a terrifying illness is taking hold—robbing its victims of control, leaving them conscious but paralyzed, their eyes clouded in blood-red haze. No cure. No explanation. No escape.

On their sixteenth birthdays, six strangers awaken with unexplainable powers—abilities that seem deeply connected to who they are. Drawn together by fate and fear, they must navigate a crumbling world to uncover the truth behind their gifts and the virus tearing it apart.

Is this evolution…
Or were they chosen for something far more dangerous?

About my motivations to write this story:

This story has been years in the making. I spent four years developing the concept and details, building on an idea that’s lived in my mind since I was young. I’ve always been fascinated by stories of people developing special abilities—but I often found myself wondering why they had those specific powers. Could their abilities be a reflection of who they are—their insecurities, personalities, or dreams? That question has always intrigued me, especially when people are asked, “If you could have any superpower, what would it be?” The answers often reveal more about the person than they might expect.

Writing Viral was a deeply enjoyable experience. It serves as an origin story for my six main characters—Erin, Brodie, Kyla, Blade, Medina, and Noah. Each of them brings something unique to the story, and I worked hard to capture their struggles, strengths, and personal growth in a way that feels authentic and connected.
