OMG, OMG, OMG! What just happened?? My brain is blown. I have never been so shocked in my life. It was definitely good. I absolutely LOVED it, but just wow. I am reeling and just losing it right now. So many emotions. 😱😳🤯
Well, the one thing this new Disney+ version of Doctor Who has been is that it is unpredictable. The final ending is more than a bit disappointing, for me at least, so we’ll have to see where this is going. It seems we’re headed back to David Tennant eventually at this point, one way or another, it is now seems inevitable. And RTD has definitely set that up. Will it get wrapped up in a holiday special? Or will it take a season to … “fix” this? So The (Sixteenth) Doctor goes looking for The (Tenth) Doctor and finds The (Fourteenth) Doctor. Do we get Rogue as a companion during this? Will they ever fix the “Mavity” problem (yes, we’ve been a smidge out of sync with reality since that happened). Where IS this all headed? 🙀

My only real prediction for this episode was that “mavity” would get fixed, seeing how this was a war for reality and that’s a pretty glaring example of reality being out of whack. So much for theorizing! 😂
I’m sure the ending will be divisive in the fandom, but I’m game.
Elizabeth wrote: "Rick wrote: "And Susan? What about Susan!? 🙀" And Rogue?? ..."Yeah, I thought that was sort of implied in my comment about if he was going to become a companion now.
Honestly I’m not sure if we’re done with the regeneration shenanigans yet. And I’m not sure we can really blame this on RTD. The groundwork was begun when we had Tom Baker return as The Curator and he commented that you might find yourself revisiting some old faces (or how ever that quote went). And then Matt Smith regenerated into Peter Capaldi and it was implied he was revisiting the face of the man The Doctor had saved from Pompeii. Then we get the Master/Doctor shenanigans from The Power of The Doctor before we get David Tennant returning as The (Fourteenth) Doctor. And THEN a bi-generation, followed by a bi-generation for The Rani. And I’m not even counting The Warrior (aka War Doctor) or The Fugitive Doctor and the Timeless Child in all this. This makes The (Tenth) Doctor and his regenerated hand business look completely ordinary in comparison. Face it, all the old beliefs about how Doctor Who works are out the window with Poppy’s bath water.
So this is a great episode. A brilliant ending for a spectacular season. And I really have nothing to complain about … except Ncuti Gatwa’s departure. I’m more than a little pissed about this. Gatwa was brilliant as The Doctor. The seasons were too short, but otherwise I adored his performance. Definitely one of my favorites. Not sure what to make of the new person, as they’re coming aboard the TARDIS with baggage so to speak. On one hand, I’m rather hoping that we will have a holiday special and then that will result in “fixing” all the stuff broken and misaligned since The Doctor and Donna screwed up with Isaac Newton and created Mavity, with the resultant need for a degeneration back to Gatwa for next season. But I do want this to be more than just stunt casting. On the other hand, I feel like it’s all being set up for a sort of reunion of the 14th and 16th Doctors. I mean, at this point how can we not.
Yes, the Doctor being saved by the Time Hotel earned RTD a lot of points with me.Other good stuff:
UNIT built a zero room
The Rani had a time ring
UNIT fighting kaiju in the middle of London
Mel spitting fire at the Rani.
Mrs. Flood survived, Not Michell Gomez didn't.
The meeting of the two Doctors
Despite the convoluted mess that lead up to it, Belinda's leaving
Time Lords being sterile actually works as an explanation for so much in Who history.
The arrival of the 16th Doctor
The bad stuff list may be as long, but the finale has left me in a good mood. We'll deal with that another day.
He gives his life for Poppy, and then she becomes someone else's daughter in this reality? Why? That is so horrible. I am so mad about that. And why didn't he save Rogue? I know scheduling and things, but still. Billie Piper? Not happy about her, but more upset about the other things.
Rick wrote: "And I was so happy to see Anita back that I actually screamed."I loved seeing Anita again! Just wish she’d been a little more integral to the rest of the plot than just holding the door open. But yeah, the first of many jaw-dropping moments in this episode.

He’s become a much sought after actor and it wouldn’t be right to keep him under a contract while the BBC figures their stuff out. Still a shame though.
Rebecca wrote: "He gives his life for Poppy, and then she becomes someone else's daughter in this reality? Why? That is so horrible. I am so mad about that. And why didn't he save Rogue? Maybe between seasons she’d just grow up, like how 12 spent teaching at the university for decades between series 9 and 10? That could have been a possibility.
I’m definitely hoping we circle back to Rogue because that needs fixing. And I’m not sure why that couldn’t have happened here. He could have come through with Omega when the portal opened and helped the Doctor defeat him.
As for Billie Piper, I think that could go either way. It could be super amazing or a complete disaster. Guess we’ll see. But it might be awhile, unfortunately…
Okay, time for some grumbles:RTD wasted that Susan cameo.
When you wear 32 different outfits, the dramatic 'putting on the Doctor's outfit' scene fell flat.
Lord, why did we waste so much screen time on Conrad...?!
Kate and that UNIT soldier smooching, I don't love.

Her participation might have been influenced by the actor being pregnant. She might have been under doctors orders to not exert herself.
Elizabeth wrote: "… As for Billie Piper, I think that could go either way. It could be super amazing or a complete disaster. Guess we’ll see. But it might be awhile, unfortunately…"I’m kind of fixated on the fact that she wasn’t introduced as either The Doctor or Doctor Who in the credits. It definitely feels like there’s more going on here. Also, the images of glass breaking. As if the regeneration was breaking the TV screen. Again, I feel like something else is in the works.
Also Billie Piper played another “character” besides Rose. She was also The Moment in the 50th anniversary special. So perhaps she’s going to be The Moment again, and she’ll have to deal with The (Fourteenth) Doctor, as he’s still around. Leaving the fate of The (Sixteenth) Doctor up for grabs.

I also don’t think this isn’t over.
Could Susan be “The Boss” that The Rani spoke of?
Elizabeth wrote: "… I’m definitely hoping we circle back to Rogue because that needs fixing. ..."Also, I’m sure this isn’t played out yet. It’s not RTD’s style to let something slid into limbo, even if the character is in limbo/hell. Part of the issue might be timing and uncertainties about Disney+ season 3. If that were going to be the case, I really don’t think RTD wouldn’t have brought him back for the cameo to begin with.
But I agree, we definitely need more Rogue. But will it work without Gatwa as The Doctor. Like Captain Jack and The (Thirteenth) Doctor, the chemistry was just so different.

After what a dud the Mrs. Flood arc was, I'm not inclined to play' wait and see'.
Especially with the rumors of a hiatus circulating.
We got no so Susan and too much Poppy and Conrad.
RTD chose poorly.

Much as I love the time hotel, I get why Anita didn't get more airtime.
RTD was juggling several dozen characters.
I absolutely adored this last season. It was on par with my favorite of series 4 with David Tennant and Catherine Tate. My only complaint is that it wasn’t longer. (I just deleted several paragraphs of me ranting about all the hater-anti-woke-“fan”-boys that are ruining Doctor Who. I’m just so sick and tired of these same tired old excuses to masquerade their fears, ignorance, and intolerance. I’m just done.)
