I read this very quickly as I could not put it down. Very good! Some interesting twists and good writing. I wish it had been a tiny bit longer, but I still gave it 4 stars. This would make a great movie.
I read this author's first book, The Tattoo Murder Case (1948). This one was really different from The Informer, as it was more of a locked room murder mystery set in Japan just after WWII. Very interesting setting: the world of full body tattooing, which was illegal in Japan at the time. What I didn't like was the length of the story and all the rehashing of murder theories throughout the book. I didn't like the boy genius/ Sherlock Holmes want-to-be who solved the mystery, either. I gave it three stars.
