For me I would say as an adult it was Haruki Murakami's Kafka on the Shore. As a child I grew up reading Enid Blyton. But after my chilkdhood I had a long hiatus from reading until my thirties.
the born in blood mafia chronicles by Cora reilly got me into reading sine 2019 and i was hooked since reading nonestop
A Wrinkle in time by Madeleine L’Engle
Roald Dahl and Jacqueline Wilson books as a child, I was hooked on reading after that.
The Phoenix and the Carpet by E Nesbitt
"Twenty and Ten"! I don't remember the author. I was a children's book I read when I was in elementary school in Germany. When we came back to the States, my first day in school there was a book report due from all the students but I was exempt from it. I loved Twenty and Ten so much I asked if I could do an oral report. My teacher and a the class loved it, too. I still have that book somewhere, probably in storage. I have been reading since then.
gonna be very honest (and basic): Harry potter
As a kid I loved the Trixie Belden books, anything by John Bellairs and I’ve been a voracious reader ever since.
I read "The Busy World of Richard Scarry" and "The Berenstain Bears' Almanac" aloud repeatedly to my younger siblings. That set me up for my career.
A random book in my middle school library: Wanted. It showed me how books can be exciting and thrilling and I went down a path of reading many high school thriller books

For me it was The Percy Jackson Series
Percy Jackson was my first and it's one of my favorite book not only for the adventure, the characters and the story but the feeling that comes with it
As a kid it was probably The Penderwicks or Anne of Green Gables that really got me into reading.

This will date me for sure, but I I fell in love with Beezus and Ramona by Beverly Cleary in first grade. Couldn't put down any of the Beverly Clearly books and after that was always asking the librarian for books like it.

I fell in and out of love with reading alot .. my first memories as a very young kid are roald dhal and Jaqueline Wilson (obsessed)Then later as a slightly older kid it was Harry Potter. And as a teen it was twilight 😆.
But as a young adult the book I really remember loving was the bone collector.. it brought back my love of reading for sure.
Umm, i really started love books and fairytales since I was a child because my mum used to read me stories. When I learnt how to read I started of with "the diary of the Wimpy kid", "Dork Diaries" etc, and so, I started to get into the world of books!
That's hard, I've always loved reading. I would have to say as a kid, I think it was "Under the Baobab Tree", but I specifically remember it being about a Baobab tree.
When I was in elementary school I liked reading. Middle school it changed we had to read book titles off a list our teachers gave us or Authors they gave us a list of. I hated the books they wanted us to read and most the authors. So reading got boring to me, and I began to regret having to read. High School got worse A Tail Of Two Cities was required I HATED IT with everything in my hated it. I like a few books we were able to pick out ourselves like Up The Down Staircase; To Sir with Love ( awesome book); Rebecca's Inn ( good book).Read a few Sidney Sheldon's that were great.
Did not read much as an adult but in the 30's I found out I enjoy mysteries. My mother's friend had a book on her table by Mary Higgins-Clark book called Loves Music, Loves to Dance read the back of the book looked interesting. Her friend seen me reading it and said take it home and read it, if you want just give it back to your mom when you are done. She said it was not the kind of books she read but her sister bought it for her and in case her sister ask where it was she could show her she still has it.
So that is when I learned the genre I loved. And my love for books again rebirthed.
The Boxcar Children and The Bobsie Twins
I'd read anything, from the backs of cereal boxes & soup cans to my mother's books (imagine a 10-yr old trying to wade through The Group & A Tree Grows in Brooklyn?) My favorites as a child were ANY books relating to horses like Black Beauty, the Nancy Drew mysteries, and the entire Anne of Green Gables series. I also fell in love with Podkayne of Mars, as my introduction to science fiction. (I was thrilled when Isaac Asimov signed my book club edition of Foundation in the late 70s.) I'm that person who always has a book with me, wherever I go. Isn't that actually the purpose of "pocketbooks?" I've never outgrown my love of reading ... as evidenced by the 17K+ books on my Kindle LOL.
for me it was the left behind series it's unfortunate now but I did enjoy it at the time and read the entire series sequel prequel and all. now I'm reading everything haven't stopped
i actually remember this quite well, it was my first non picture book, called Marley and Me. loved reading ever since <3 then ofc the treehouse series and thea stilton were my childhood
Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke was the first chapter book I read that fully engrossed me. From there it moved to the Warriors series
