Zadignose | 158 comments Baldo is a wild and wooly Italian Renaissance novel-in-verse, published 1517, and a precursor to Rabelais's Gargantua and Pantagruel, in that Rabelais was a dedicated fan of Baldo and they are rather similarly playful and both have giants and such. First rendered into English in 2007. I flipped my lid for volume I. I found volume II to be excellent though flawed in some ways. Here's what I had to say, and I'll probably want to say more eventually. Oh yeah, and I was the second to review volume one and the first to review volume two, so fair to say it's rather on the buried side... but shouldn't be!:
