Well, I've been a fan of his for YEARS. But I have to say I'm mostly a fan of his earlier works. My favorite book of all time by King is The Stand. There are so many elements and layers to this story. What would happen to society if 95% of humans were wiped out by a super-flu? Would we become like animals? Lose our humanity? Our compassion for others? When you find other survivors, can you trust them? How do you protect yourself and survive? The questions this book brings up is endless. Also, at the time I read it, I thought to myself-"This could really happen!", because I knew the government was playing around with things like that in secret.
Then-BAM! 2020 happened! King wrote that book a LONG time ago, but we got to see a superflu (of sorts) in 2020 and the whole world went freaking crazy!👀
I'm with you 100% Debbie. The Stand (uncut) is still an all-time favourite. Will always be more of a fan of his earlier work. The shining, Pet Cemetery. The Stand is on my tbr again list. It's been decades since I read it last! Did Stephen have a vision all those decades ago? 😆 It's a bit like Dean Koontz in Eyes of Darkness (haven't read the book, but it's on my bookshelf) who wrote about a Super virus breaking out in Wuhan in 2020. Mmm...spooky! Love it!!! 😊
I have never read Stephen King.I have seen so many movies based on his books, though, that I think that's why I never felt the desire to actually read one of his books.
But I do have The Stand on my Kindle to read.. I've been told several times that if I only read one Stephen King novel, that The Stand should be it.
So I have plans to read that one.
